I use 2400 (with hot loads) or AA#9 (close to max loads) --- with A 255gr. flat base bullet. Sorry to say that I never had luck with light loads in 44 mag. --- mag_01

Woa thats A healthy load and A good one --- They should be lubed --- Gas check is good but I run them flat base no gas check --- mag_01

Zinc is hard --- moulds ok but is brittle --- tends to be problematic in sizing dies an can mess up A die.

50 Cal. black powder projectiles more than likely soft lead --- mix with FW and mix should be fine

I like the Lee 200gr. boolit g/ced in the K-31 --- I'm trying to think of the powder used probably 30-31

Boolit used was Lee 185gr. .312 sized .311

9grs. of Herco works well with Lee ---160 --- 170 --- 180gr. boolits --- NO gas check

AA5744 at 22grs. with Lee 160 or 180 cast with gas checks

Wayne I use A 200gr boolit gas checked with 29grs. to 35grs. of IMR-3031 .

3.5grs. Bullseye with 125gr rn shoots well in the P-38.

I would just as soon buy copper gas checks one less variable to worry about.

The gun shop even had lead there which was unusual --- have never seen lead there before -- lead for casting.

My local gun shop has plenty of reloading supplies -- Gas check's - powder -- primers --- .223 bullets --- and look like he had cases of ammo he had not displayed yet as he was unpacking product...

Anyone have success with a replacement for gas checks other than a filler -- don't mind using fillers in bolt action guns but a little concerned with using fillers in semi autos 7.62x39 ?[smilie=1:

Are Gator gas checks available and can I order directly ? --- Other suggested sources of gas checks -- need 30 caliber.

agree with MtGun44 my taurus is fed 125grs. at 358 dia.

Jeff --- If I have trouble seating gas checks I chuck the boolit up in a drill (very lose) and file the edge of the base then checks slip on easily.
