I milled the arms of a lee six cavity mold to fit the Lyman 4-cavity mold and opened up the mounting holes to fit the Lyman pins. A few casting sessions on them and they are still working great....

I bought a couple of cheap china sets on ebay. I chose the minus set after a bit of study. They are as accurate as I need and were pretty affordable. They really make checking sizing dies or any...

I am in agreement with the gentleman who said that if he wanted a measurement closer that .002, then he would reach for a micrometer. That is especially true if you are fitting two pieces together...

I checked my CH press this afternoon and it is a 5/8" rod threaded 1/2"-20, National Fine Thread.

I totally agree with Sprink, I make dies, top punches, and molds for my own use, but it is just not worth the headaches to try and market those items. I have a day job that pays the bills, and I do...

It is hard to convince new casters to invest in a sizer plus dies for each caliber and a top punch for each mold, but once you find that path, there us no going back. I have three Lyman 450's and a...

I was having a hard time finding a hot plate I liked, then one day I was looking at an electric skillet and noticed that the heating element was all in the bottom. I bought a cheap one at a garage...
I just cast some .25-20 bullets in a Ideal #4 combination mold and loading tool as shown in a copy of the 1902 Sears catalog. It is the best bullet I have found for my Win. 1892.

Very impressive. I would like to see a video of the auto bullet caster in action.

Thanks for the info. I have been keeping a lookout for items marked Pewter, but so far, have not found any at a reasonable price.

I have had problems with ladles that had spouts that had defects. A little work with a file to smooth the spout can do wonders.

I usually start about 675 with a mold I am not familiar with, and adjust up or down from there, depending on what I am seeing in the bullets. That temp. is usually in the ball park, and I rarely go...

I bought a Chrony F1 at a garage sale a few months ago. Good to hear that it was a worthwhile find. I will check out their web site as I might want to upgrade. Thanks.

Thanks for pointing me to the lee molds. They look like what I need.

Has any one had experience using the $40 buckshot molds shown above? I might be interested.

With a variety of different brands of molds, I try to have at least two handles of each type, like big and small Lyman, RCBS, etc. That way I can have any two molds casting at once for production. ...

I have a new .22 barrel turned and ready to chamber. I have been looking for a .22 breechblock, but have not connected yet. They show up on ebay quite regularly, but most are pretty poor condition....

Nice work, I particularly like the part octagon barrel. I am doing a Stevens Favorite that was in .32 Long and making it .22 RF also. I am using a heavy barrel blank, and considered making it...

Good idea on the piloted drill. I want to reline a .22, but the cost of the drill made me rethink the idea. I will start looking at the machinists sites for a drill.

This is great information. I have both a 456-191 and a 457-191, so next time I fire up the furnace, I am going to cast some of both and see what size they come out. Thanks again for taking the time...

I measured the recess after thoroughly cleaning it out and then measuring with a Mititoyo digital caliper. The turned shells fit the chamber well as I turned them to the diameters shown in...
And make sure the micrometer is adjusted to read correctly. A 0'-1" is easy as you can clean the anvil faces, close it down and make sure it read 0.000- There is a little spanner that comes with...
