I think I'd rather be too hard than too soft when pushing 1700 fps like most of us do with a muzzleloader and a 300gr .452 boolit from a sabot and let the meplat do it's job.

The reason I ask this is to see if I can get a .411 230g Keith-type down to around .400 for use in a 50/40 sabot. The most accurate bullet in my Knight .50 is the 200gr SST that is .40 cal. Just...

Would I be able to size a boolit from .410 though a .400 sizing die or is that too much? I'm using a Lyman 45.
Shoot me a PM if you're interested in a Lyman 12ga mould. It's old Minie ball type not the newer airgun pellet shape.

Real wet opener! I made it out tonight for a few hours to get soaked and skunked!

I just ran some through and let the lube into the crimp groove. Makes a little film of lube on the boolit after seating/crimping but I'll be ok as long as I don't drop them in the dirt. I'll...

In order to size my 280gr LBT WFNs down to .452, I need to push them down into the sizing die so far that I get lube into the crimp groove. I've been just sizing down far enough to lube(sizes to...

I'd never be without my .22 mag. Just the right tool for chucks around the yard where I don't want to touch off a centerfire. It's a little much for squirrels, where I think the .22LR is still...

I don't usually have any problem with the prices at the Flint Gander Mtn... They never have any thing I need in stock!

The riser has a lot to do with the looks of the finished bow IMO. A real nice effect is to lamiate several pieces together. I like the looks of 1/8" contrast woods or phenolic. All of this stuff...

Yep, $75 will by the kit for the limbs but for a take down you've also got to deal with mounting hardware. If you're buddy already has the forms and hot box to cure the limbs than that will save...

SOP for splitting Osage stave is to just shellac the ends to avoid drying checks. The bark and sap wood are left on until you're ready to make a bow. With bows, it's critical to get down to a...

Yellow aniline dye might lessen the darkening effects of Osage over time. It's used by bowyers who use Osage quite a bit.
Here's an example of dark vs. light Osage on a bow that I recently...

How long of a piece of ash do you need? I have several staves of I believe white ash put up in my shed cut last winter. They're about 7' long for making self bows. You're welcome to a few. They...

Anyone got a good start Ruger level load for .45 Colt using Blue Dot with a 280gr LBT?
Saw a load on handloads.com showing 13.5gr with a 260gr Keith so I would think 12gr would be a safe...

Very cool!
Nice shooting and I think that's real neat stuff that you used a bullet from a group buy mould and lube from a member of the board.

I'd just hunt into the wind and forget about it.

Shot 50 rounds of 280gr LBT WFN GC sized down to .452 in front of 9.8gr Unique. No leading after all 50. Shot most of them from off hand and sitting to get ready for deer season but I did shoot one...

Thanks again guys.
I ran some through the sizer a little deeper with the lube pressure backed off and got them down to .4520. No issues with sticking bullets or anything.

Thanks for all the great info guys. I really appreciate it.
I'll try some harder slugs and see where that gets me. I have some loaded with a lighter charge and I'll shoot 30 or so of those and...

I have a .452 Lyman sizing die. I run the bullet on my Lyman 450 as deep as possible to not get lube in the crimp groove and the bullet mics .4525 at the widest point. I can probably get them down...

I guess I was thinking backwards in my assesment of the gas check. Thanks for the info.
