I shoot a bolt gun, a siamese mauser that was converted to 45/70. I load the 500 grain boolits quite hot, 1890 fps, but it is less than 8 lbs, and kicks the @#$ out of my shoulder, it is too kick...

I am thinking of getting a Lee 405 grain FB mold for the 45/70. I currently cast 500 gr gas check bullets for it, and wonder if I will have poorer performance with the bullets without gas checks..

Do you live somewhere close to Prince George BC Canada? Probably we will shoot 50 or so, we are just looking to see if our loads work well in his rifles...

I mix 45-45-10 tumble lube in a 10 dollar blender... Worked like a hot damn..
Oh, and melt dry lead...

Spent the day in the shop with my nephew cast some 200 grain 314 bullets and some 500 grain 458 bullets, we will shoot them tomorrow. There is still a couple of feet snow It was just a few degrees...

It worked real slick. Took about 2 minutes. I saw the idea to use a blender in another post, but I can't seem to find it. Thanks to whoever it was that suggested it.
