I have a Uncle Mikes extension on my 44-40; I’m waiting on a Grovetech extension for my 7-30 Waters.
I’ve found that these work better than the Marlin type of extension. Even with the old Topper...

Just for grins, hold the barreled action upside down and look at the action sidewalls under the rails- especially the ejector side- for burrs.
