Why not just stick with the 45-70? You might be able to paper patch some pistol bullets if that's what you have.

Can't beat a patched round ball. If you want any meat left, learn to bark them. Hit right in front of their nose. Even a round ball will tear them to pieces.

Have you thought about using the Lee .458 hollow base mold? Upon firing, it should expand to fit.

There are only 2 single shot rifles I don't like and haven't found either yet.
