Thanks uscra112, I'm trying to find that article, and I'm going to try polishing my bullet sizer (lee) out from 358 to 3595 or larger.
This is excellent info, Tripplebeards. I'm going to polish out my sizing die as I felt I was just barely large enough.
I'm crimping with a lee FCD.
I too am not looking for plinking loads at...
As to a different powder, I tried AR comp as indicated above got much better results... I'm mainly curious as to why the slower powder seemed to do so much better.
Thank you for your reply... It's a little unorthodox but I went into this without any published load data, I've used quickload in the past and worked up a load from there. 35 remington is an "off...
This is an 8 shot group with the AR comp load. Much happier.

These are the lil gun load. The circled impacts are at 25 and the dashed ones are at 50.

This 3 shot group is at 25 after dialing the sights in.

Hi all, it's been a while since I posted (damn almost a decade) so please forgive me if I'm stepping on post etiquette or if this is in the wrong place.
I'm getting back into loading cast boolits...
I've SEEN them, usually target models for over 2K, like above. However, I'm looking for a standard combat model, in shootable condition. I've always loved the lines. I have it on good authority...
Anyone familiar with these? I've been looking for one for years, I've heard rumors that certain companies import them, but I've come up dry time and time again, and after hundreds of google searches...
I was always curious WHY the "don't hoot cast in glocks" myth is so pervasive...
LAt those kinds of ranges, wind drift sometimes holds a far higher influence on accuracy. A consistant crosswind of any measurable velocity would produce drifts on the order of several feet, and...
In my experience lube plays second fiddle to hardness in wheelgun leading. I have run unsized unlubed boolits in my 38 without any leading whatsoever. The difference is I run nearly pure lead (75%...
Does it lead differently when you shoot standard 357 loads?
What pressure 38s you running/how soft is your lead? You may be getting gas cutting.
This is a SAFETY ISSUE. Do the right thing and buy a new part.
In my experience (fairly decent with regards to wheelguns) a new piece should drop in quite easily, and in this day and age of...
A 1911 is mechanically unable to fire out of battery. A cracked case would not cause this to happen, as the case does little, if anything, to hold in pressure. My vote is for an overcharge. Not the...

I know I can hit a 10" target easily, and an 8" plate with some setup, at 300 yards. That's a 35 remington pet load with a 116 grain bullet trucking along at 2900 feet per second. I suppose this may...

Bullet drop with a 3030 at 5 or 600 yards could probably be measured in feet, 3, 4, 5 feet or more. Ditto for wind drift, especially in areas where 600 yard shots are actually possible or merited. ...

Id question a 223 at 600 yards for hunting. Much less a 3030. 200 yards imo.
Forum: Cast Boolits
Ladies and gentlemen, mistermog is the most OCD reloader I know, but he's alright :P
Forum: Leverguns
Your boolits are likely too small or too hard. Most likely far too hard for the pressures you are using. If the boolit is slightly undersized, a soft alloy will allow it to flow into the grooves...
To my knowledge, I have never heard of anyone managing to bust up a .38 K frame with non-magnum loads. Keep it under 18.5K PSI, and I doubt you will hurt anything.
