Hi LeadHead.
Lyman made them in a lot of sizes from .300 - .498. I don't have my list handy, but I think I have 15 different sizes.

I cast the Accurate 45-180R for the Ruger Old Army, Using Pure Lead and sized .454.
Note: I ordered mine to cast .462 with Pb for multiple uses including 45/70. I also use a Star sizer to limit...
Sure looks a lot like the H&G #140 to me. Link to Catalogue below.

Hope this helps,
Jeff
P.S.
Check out Accurate molds for this...
I'll have to disagree with everyone here and claim it to be a .50 Sharps Ringtail boolit. If the base had been over filled and the excess trimmed around it, it would work fine in the Sharps. A...

Thanks for the info!
Nice Thud Guns there Alasgun!! Mine are much smaller, but not less fun!

Actually that's a very rare mould, and the .301 diameter was made for a rifle. I have a friend who has the rifle, but I don't remember what it was.
I actually had got a custom Accurate mould made...

Chipmunks and ground squirrels are great!! I leave them leaner times!

Being a Pb caster from the '70's it makes me ill seeing Pure Lead mixed with anything other than Sn.

I would never render lead like that. The main reason is no temperature control for the lead over the fire.
There are a few others, but the afore mentioned can be dangerous.

The recommended boolit for the rifle is the Lyman #575213OS with OS denoting the Old Style/Original. It's a 450 gr. Minie.
Some of the old target shooters also used Lyman #575494 Minie, but this one...
It's probably a tapered based for seating. That's an awfully long boolit for muzzle seating.
Nice mould, and thanks for the pic!
I will go with Mark and Bad Ass on this also, and probably has several applications for old M\L and early cartridge rounds.
Nice find!

The 450 prefix was used for the .44 Cal. Black Powder pistol boolits, though Lyman was known to cross over numbers from Ideal and use the prefix for something else. The .451 Self Loading Rifle...
Get some handle screws from RCBS. You can Google their site.

Hi Bert,
Here's where I get my sabots (Purple .54's for you I would say to try. It takes a .500 dia. boolit tho):

You could also try a Lyman style...
Hi barnabus,
Unlike Lyman they have a slider attached to the handle mount screws with the HB pin in the center. Ohaus\Shiloh made them this way too.
On a side note, i have never come across a...
It could simply be from someone opening and closing the mould with the sprue cutter closed. This is a no no.

Hi curator,
That minie was designed for the .58 Kentucky style pistols. I have the mould and shot it in a .58 Zouave with moderate success.
The skirt is quite thin and will blow out with heavier...
Hi Bill,
I cast the Lyman #457483 GC (listed @ 378 gr. Lyman #2. 395 gr. my alloy) for loads out to 300 yards, and Lyman #457406 GC (listed 480 gr. #2. 485 - 500 gr. my alloy) for 300 - 500 yards....

I would do a more local search for Babbit. Surely there's bearing companies around. Places that rebuild car engines will probably have old crank bearings in a tub.

For one, the raised edge will help square up the gas check. Secondly, the die has a throat and the lip will have the most force on the outer edge of the check. The GC should always seat tight to the...
