Found out today my source dried up....
The buckets are 60% non-lead and the local battery shop is now willing to pay $25.00 per bucket instead of the $15.00 they were buying them for when they...

I made the pot as my first. I'm a newb here as of last year. Many said go with a short fat pot (after I showed what I had already done) and it made sense, but as used above it works better I think....

LOL, yes that is an 8" dial on a 4" long thermometer!
I misread it when I ordered it, thinking I was getting a 4" dial and 8" length. I have since removed it all together and just watch the melt...

I feel your pain.... I'm buying a Star ASAP after 3 attempts at pan lubing.

Oh yeah! Uncle O will save the day! LOL
I was told by the manager that lead is going to be gone out of new WWs by 12/2011 and that CA has already started the ban. We will all be looking for new...

No poaching allowed pal!
I don't know if that is the "hi I want to buy WWs" price you might get, I have a connection with the local tireshop manager for $0.30 lb
Forum: Lead and Lead Alloys
30 cents is the going price for WWs here in Medford, OR. That includes sitckons mixed in which are about 10%

Appreciate the feedback.
More information....
I asked if there was molten lead in the bottom while he was dumping more in... A = Yes
I asked if the lead WWs might have been wet... A = they...

Guy at work said he was smelting led WWs and some bars when the pot "blew" and showered him in liquid lead.
Q1. Can wet led dumped into melted lead do this? I have heard of a Tinsel Fairy but...

Lost my ring in my first marriage taking it off to do work (Electrician here) but decided that losing a finger would be easier than losing another ring in my second (final) marriage.

RCBS is bottom pour. I poured (6) 115gr 9mm [ easily 700gr) with it the other day.

I'm just starting and sized 1200 9mm boolits through the Lee die. Did 600 with ALOX, 600 pan lube and will not be using ALOX again. What a nasty mess that stuff is!
My pan lube wax was a little...

Found out the hard way last night that those "bargin" $1.00 pans at the dollar store are not such a bargain when you can't get the cake out!!!!
Picking up some silicon pans today before work.

Good point. They are not for fluxing back right, just to make a protective layer on a bottom pour correct?
I was planning on fluxing the pot, then adding a layer on top then skimming it off...

More good tips guys! Appreciated. I suppose a light coating of sawdust shavings would do the same as the leaves for a bottom pour when I get one? I work at a particleboard plant and have dry pine...

Cross posted with you snaggdit,
You are on the mark on fluxing and stirring with the ladle I think as it seemed to help me. I'm going to do the same thing as far as cleaning the bullet on final...

Hornet,
I'm only going to do the first 600 with ALOX then use pan wax for the rest. I'm assuming that 600 won't be enough to build up for me to have to check OAL on them?
Ran another 600 using...
