One thing I've done for my 40 cal is to cut them with scissors. Simply square them up then nip the corners off. Works well for my rifle.

I run a 3 burner infrared heater in my shop. It's a 24'x30' open floor plan with 8' ceiling, OSB inside and out, with roofing tin on the outside. Inside was primed and painted to reflect light and...

When I found out how well the Lee auto disk worked and I settled on a load I simply got one for each caliber and put a label on and sealed with scotch tape.

Tell me about it! I've got a lift for my motorcycle and most days it's just another table full of stuff in my shop. When I need it I have to figure out where to put all the stuff on it temporarily.

All those super clean loading benches were starting to be depressing, now THAT looks a lot like my bench!

Just had a thought, are you using city water with chlorine in it? A buddy of mine couldn't figure out why he was getting rust in his muzzle loader when cleaning it with water, turns out a high level...

One thing I've noticed about liquid tumbling with the SS media is that while they come out like polished gold, they tarnish a bit quicker and easier than the vibratory tumbler. I like the way they...

Surprised your getting that much stretch with a bolt gun, especially with LC brass, it's normally hard and thick. I wonder if there is something off about your chamber, or it needs polishing? ...

What are you shooting them in, a bolt gun or gas? Gas guns like the M14 are harder on brass due to the violence of the extraction. Looks like normal wear and tear to me. I know most people...

I've been using SS media for about 5 years or so now and have had no issues, I use it on rifle and pistol ammo, black powder loads and smokeless. I load for 30-06 and 308 for the M1 Garand and M14,...

Are you freaking kidding me?!!! Last time my bench was that clean and organized was just after moving it into the house and before I got everything mounted! I think I can see the wood top in a...

I used the spring return for a little while till I noticed the arm was digging into the LED flashlight I've got in the top of LM. It's just a 1" hole drilled most of the way through and flashlight...
Forum: Boolit Lube !
There's a bunch of recipes out there, I've tried several of them with good results. For patch lube I've been using either Track of the Wolf's mink oil-it's a paste but a bit stiff for cold climate,...

Probably not a bad idea on the shake brake. Keep at it, it's coming together.
Forum: Lead and Lead Alloys
My only real issue would be the "it's hard lead". I vastly prefer to get soft lead or pure lead and alloy up. But then my standard alloy is 20-1, and I cast quite a few pure lead round ball and...

I looked on Dixie's website and there listing a 1 1/4" punch for 54 cal. Not sure how it'll work. Next time I have some time and the lathe free I will have to turn one out and see how it goes. For...

You've got a point there, just wasn't sure how square would work compared to round.

Thanks, good info. I'll have to check the circle cutter out, never seen it before. I've been cutting from a strip at the muzzle with a knife, but witch cold weather coming it's a fiddly step I can...

I've probably burned 50 pounds of Graf's over the last few years, mostly in cartridge and cap and ball revolvers. For long range and flinters I use Swiss. From my experience, Goex as a rule sucks,...

Anybody know the diameter of patches or patch cutters for patched round ball rifles? I've only got two cal. present, a .40 and a .54 with a .45 I'm working on. I've had good results with pillow...

Same here, I use both the 36 and the 44 conicals for Colts type revolvers. I don't use wads, either with round ball or conical. The conicals make lubing over the ball unnecessary, though every...

Now that is awesome! I wouldn't mind something like that for my wood chisels.

I've found even with carbide dies a spray of one shot makes them run a lot smoother. Personally that's all I use one shot for, never had good luck with it for rifle resizing. I like the idea of the...

How's the 30 carbine sitting in the shell plate? 50 seems a bit excessive. I don't load for it, so I don't know, but out of the last 1000 or so I loaded I had maybe 1 sideways primer. I think part...
