My RCBS FL die way over sizes the brass for my single shots even if I back it way off.

If the purpose is to keep cost and leading down, consider shake and bake powder coating. I have not gone over 1800 fps yet but so far the PC is undamaged. It is cheap and easy.
You cannot back the die out far enough to only neck size with the ram all the way down so you need to put a stack of washers over the case or in my case I used heavy wall pipe cut off to correct...
I was looking for a neck sizing die in 45-70 for my single shot rifles and came across info that a Lee carbide crimp die in 45 Colt would work. Ordered one, tried it and it almost worked but did not...

I need to get a 16" barrel for my AR45 and the normal twist is 1 in 16" but KAK has a 1 in 10"
I normally shoot 200 swc cast mid range loads, so I am thinking that I want to stick with the 1 in 16....
Thanks Larry.
I worked my way up to 16 gr and that gave me 1400 fps with no signs but without any more data I guess I will stop there.
I am running out of 5744 and want to load Unique (for my Win. 1885 Hi-wall made in 1917) with the 292 gr. lyman.
I am not finding much info for that combo. and I don't want to hurt the old girl but...
Well, I just fired a couple of groups. I was planning on 10 shot groups but failing light and it is just too darn cold.
The round groove 6 shot group ( I thought I had missed the paper on first...
Yes, the square grooves do not drop out as easy as the round but they seem to be a little more consistent by weight.
I will let you know how the side by side accuracy test goes.
Thanks guys.
I have 2 sets of Lyman 457125 molds.
1 set has round grease grooves as throws 489 gr. of WW
The other has square grease grooves and throws 478 gr. of WW
Starting to load for a Win. 1885 that I...
I have not tried to hot rod my AR-45, but I did have to do a lot of work to find what shot most accurately.
What my ar liked was a Lee 200 gr loaded out just a tad longer than what will work in a...
I like Jedman's idea of the Lee 230 gr. 30 cal. like a 30-30 or 30-40
Forum: Coatings and Alternatives
As anyone that has shot lead thru a can can tell you, lead build up is a problem. Ask anyone that has a 22 rimfire can. Any can that is not sealed can be cleaned true, but it can be a real pain with...
Forum: Coatings and Alternatives
It is not the lube in the can it is the lead and it can be a REAL problem.

I would not be powder coating if I did not shoot them thru a suppressor. To be able to shoot cast with a suppressor is really cool because it is cheap. Once I started PC ing I have shot a lot of lead...

I am going to have to get 30 rem. dies, I have a set of 32 rem dies. I can make do with neck sizing the 30 for now.
I looked at the 6.8 but it is too short.
Grafs has 32 rem brass, a...

I have read that the Remingtons are rimless versions of the Winchesters and you can use the same dies.
I have fired some 30 rem sized with 30-30 dies and the shoulder looks a bit different. I do not...

I will have to try that because I can't get the Lee 230 gr 30 cal to stand-up
