The base of the bullet is your max load, avoid any compression. Then they say to start at 70% and work up. I have found best accuracy at 80 to 90%.

I have loaded .451 RB over trailboss in a 45 win mag (contender barrel). It was shooting cloverleafs at 35 yds. Quite fun.

358429 loaded to crimp groove length in 357 cases will be too long for most revolvers. That's because Elmer Keith designed it for use in the 38 special case before the 357 magnum existed. I know...
Thank you both, I agree it is a modern bond. It was a stock design apparently intended for the 25 Roberts (according to castpics).
This mold is unmarked except for C-257-938. I am leaning towards it being an early H&G mold but other opinions are sought.

I have actually completed college level physics courses and Mr. Buchanan has it right.

Yes, what Hardy says. Too much neck tension leads to crooked ammo. If I size to .311 then I want the expander in my "M" die to be .310.

The old Lyman 44th edition has data for their 358311 which is a 158 gr round nose. With Bullseye they listed 3.0 as a starting load at 869 fps and 3.5 max load at 961 fps. With Unique they listed...
161 grain round nose according to a .pdf I have. The .pdf is too large or I would attach it. Here is a partial.

I bought one or the other of those molds. The resulting bullet wouldn't chamber in any of three 8mm's I own. The boys that designed them got a little carried away in my opinion.

+1 My experience exactly. I can center up in a blurry peep just fine, but a blurry notch or V is worthless.

There are original peep sights for Marlin 80 on Ebay fairly regularly.

Lyman used to include 9mm data for the 358311 in their older manuals. Lyman #44 for instance.

Too much neck tension will cause crooked ammo in my experience. If I were using a .326 bullet, I would want a .324 or .325 M die.
I bought a .32 H&R mag contender barrel that came with a rifle scope on it; now I understand. Very accurate barrel by the way.

I have used 5 gr Titegroup in various milsup rifles with cast bullets; it makes good gallery loads. I went through a period where I wanted a gallery load for every rifle, fun while it lasted.
I trim 45 colt cases such that they headspace on the case mouth for my 1937. They are not 45 cowboy specials as they are longer. The rim is adequate for positive ejection. I also use regular old...

Is this a disk or a ring that you are cutting?

The ammo companies used to use some really soft alloys back then and they would lead your barrel badly in no time. Those of us that cast our own can avoid this as you have.

If you do a chamber cast, you may find a sloppy chamber, I did. Mine will only shoot well with 300 grain, I guess that bridges the gap better.

There are too many powders with similar names/numbers. There is no excuse for three powders with "clays" in their name IMO.

Several of my Mausers will pierce LPP but not LRP.

Another vote for a K31. Another possibility would be a Finn M39. If you got real lucky, you might find one of each for $500.

The older Lyman manuals had data for 158 gr (358311) in 9mm but not with your powder.
