I thought .454 was big too but I measured it twice and had someone else confirm my measurement. So do you guys think I should try going with a different barrel?

Ok, so my barrel measures just a hair under .454

The throat of the barrel doesn't seem to be too sharp, but I'm not ruling that out as I have no other 45's to compare it to.
The rounds do fall in and out of the chamber easily. They sit flush as...

I will get a slug of my barrel today and take it to work tomorrow to measure it.
The leading is on the chamber end of the barrel and not the muzzle end.

So I got a new mold for my RIA 1911. NOE's H&G 68 copy. I tried that sized to .452 and lubed with 45/45/10 and with 5 gr Bullseye and while it gave me very good accuracy I had leading in the first...

Just tags, a knife, flashlight, lighter and my tree stand. Oh, and my bow/gun. But I'm never more than a mile from the road.
got to the range this morning. at 50 yards 17 gr of 2400 shot just under an inch 3 shot group. 17.5 and 18 both shot 3/4 inch groups. no signs of excess pressure and no leading but i didnt want to...
i agree a heavier boolit would be better and i plan to eventually. However, im cash poor at the moment and am just trying to do the best i can with what i have.
thanks, I think I'll start at 17 gr and work up from there.
anyone have experience with the 2400 in .357 max? im finding a lot of data for jacketed bullets but none for cast.
i will be loading the lee 158 gr swc gas check boolit, and would like to get...
i have a handi rifle in .357 and love it. if you don't mind a single shot.
My blackhawk likes the Lee c358-158-swc. 3.0 gr bullseye in .38 cases, or 14 gr 2400 with winchester mag primers in .357cases for about 1450fps. The .357 boolits get gas checks and sized to .358,...

I use the Lee C358-158-SWC in my .357 Blackhawk. Meplat measures .275" and it weighs on average 165 with WW lead and gas check.
I shoot it over 14gr 2400 with a wspm primer and get a fairly...

lee 358-158-swc over 3.0 gr bullseye and remington 1 1/2 primers works great for me out of all five guns i have that shoot .38 special.

For plinking lee c309-170-f above 16 gr 2400 works great in my Winchester m94 trapper. About 1625 fps average and 2 inch groups at 100 yards. For hunting I put the same bullet over 28 gr 3031.

So this morning i called about an ad on craigslist about lead for sale. I called him and he said he had a few thousand pounds of wheel weights and wanted 40 cents a pound. That's not a bad price...
