They're honestly much tougher than you think. One of my first major tool investments was a 0-6 inch set of used Moore and Wright mics when I was starting my apprenticeship, best 300$ I ever spent. ...

Its alot to ask, but IF the chambered one in 44 russian, and scaled the gun back to the original proportions of a true henry rifle, not a stretched out spaghetti 44-40. Id pay a few k for that.

You must have actually stood there and seen what they can actually do, not a heck of a lot. Over hyped technology that's been stagnant for decades.
Id offload the best 3D printer money could buy...

I have one of those rifles, shot plenty of federal 175 grain loads out of it, with no issue.
But thats just me and my gun.
32 grains of reloder 7 under the Lyman 457125 500 grain government roundnose bullet. Fired from 32 inch barrel shiloh sharps
Not traditional, but it is very very accurate.
for the 150-160 LSWC I've used 10-10.5 grains (Ten to ten and a half grains) BlueDot.
Decent unique loads involve any 150-160 grn bullet I cast (I have never tried this load with full wad cutters)...
Looks like the latest offering out of the Remington custom shop.

Near identical in shape but not in quality. Lymans new molds are disappointing for what they cost.

RCBS 358-150 SWC
I bought this mold on a whim after I saw it sitting on the shelf of assorted junk at a gunsmiths, easily my favorite.

40 years with the 45-70 covers everything most of Paul Mathews other books expand on, I have alot of his other ones but "40 years with the 45-70" is by far his best.

If it is an actual martini enfield, it will have the proof pressure stamped on the barrel near the receiver.
You'l notice its the same as a lee enfield bolt action (18.5 tons per square inch). ...

A digital mitutoyo absolute and youl be well set up. They also make solar powered ones.
Itl hurt a bit but its a small price to pay in the long run.

Are you lubing with plain LL alox?

If you're using the stock iron sights at 100 yards you better have some sharp eyes or that will contribute to the groups.
What powders have you tried and what loads?

Hey guys.
I have an 1897 rolling block that I like to shoot from time to time and one thing that bugs me is its rear sight slider is loose and no longer holds its position by friction like my old...

I use that same Lee mold but for a 357 marlin.
The roundnose phobia needs to be taken with a grain of salt.
My favourite smokeless powder for the 45-70, I can load heavy in an 1886 or load moderate and get excellent accuracy out of a Sharps. Theres neat experimenters using it for heavy loads with pistol...
