has any one had any luck with this particular rifle shooting cast? i have been trying the Lee 200 gr. 7 Lyman 311672 . the best i have been able to get with either bullet is about 1&1/2in. @ 100yds....

using that same bullet & powder load i found by adding a dacron filler my groups were much tighter and about 2ins. higher then without.

is that a proven load or a one time group, just curious ....

it seems like after about 40 or so rds my groups start to open up. i'm shooting lyman's 311672 wd-ww's sized to .310 in a FN-SPR-A1A .308 over 32.0 of IMR4895 with dacron filler with a c.o.l.of...

+or - .5grain works well with all my rifle bullets . i don't weigh pistol bullets.

i believe all cast bullets have a air pocket hidden in there. i know when i cut a cast pure lead round ball in half with a razor you'll see it in the first or second cut,always there.

i have had very good results with IMR4831

the use of dacron helped control the stringing in my groups.

i would say yes, if the garand is in good shooting order.

that is a general seating depth an does not mean your rifle will accept it. load 1 round without powder an primer to see if it will work.

my experiance with T P over powder in the 30-06 is after the shot i noticed a few feet in front of the muzzle i would see a small white cloud of white dust. i can't imagine how your T P is staying...
