Let us know how those go. I got some 296 a while back but i have never used it (too much 4227 on hand). I want to try it in the Glock 30 Luger so your loads might be close. What are you doing with the 2400 in the tok? I've seen a couple loads. I'm going to try aa #5 which I think is going to be the shtuff... - Mike
I received some starline 9x23 super comp brass and test forming it into 30 luger to build some hotter /moderner rounds for my barsto glock(s). G17 with a g19 barrel on the way. Dang post office. Takes longer to go 30 miles than it did to get here from Sturgis.
SS pin tumbling assorted brass. The good 80 cnt of PPU 8mm mauser brass is cleaned and polished. The bad have about 3 pounds of other brass to de-prime before I can clean. The ugly a mixed coffee can of this and that that makes me run around finding the container with that caliber of brass for as little as one or two cases. The can was full it was time. It is dry so time to scavenger hunt the odd caliber containers.
Last weekend I finished casting 12 lbs. of .310 round ball as #1.5 buckshot. Getting ready to cast similar amount of #00 buck using a new MP 8 cavity mold from the group buy. Hopefully noticeably faster with the 8 cavity than the #1.5 was using a 6 cavity.
Total sympathy for the dang not enough time to enjoy it all comments. Seems like as I get one task done I notice 3 or 4 others that I have forgotten about in addition to the 5 or 6 I knew I wanted to do.
Cast about 1000 bullets using my old faithful RCBS Pro-Melt.
Used my new N.O.E. #453-247-SWC 5CAV, well used N.O.E. TL432-240-RF and a new to me Lee #452-225-TC. One of the smoothest casting sessions I've had in a long time.
That new N.O.E. 45Cal SWC mold dropped perfect bullets by the 3rd fill.
The Lee 45cal TC that I got from Wrench dropped perfect bullets 1st fill.
A good hot plate makes all the difference.
I got two dummy cartridges stuck at different times in my XD 45 while trying to find an OAL for RCBS 82048 230gr RN bullets I made before my eye surgery. Then I did something and got the XD stuck open and had to research how to get the slide to work again... 7/16" wrench and some prying worked great. Spent most of the day wondering why my dummy cartridges would all test ok for head space, then I would seat the bullet to 1.240 or what ever and they would then fail the head space gauge. As you can guess, I'm still leaning and it's my first time reloading 45 acp. Hope your day was better.
Hello,
WELCOME on your first posting :)
What is the diameter of your cast bullets?
Sometimes a deeper seat will flare the brass, maybe go a BIT longer??
1.25" as a baseline but there's no substitute for the plunk test.
I loaded up 50 rounds for the Tubb Final Finishing kit I bought from @Loudenboomer for my newly rebored .260 REM. When the weather cooperates, I'll go do the "shoot 10, clean barrel, repeat" routine until it's done. Ed

Powder coated some 35 cal. That I casted yesterday from my new MP mold while I let the lead pot heat up. Once I loaded up the oven I then casted some 45.Attachment 235537
Boxed up a pif, re-converted my 38-55 to 1/2 mag for grins, checked chamber depth on a Krag barrel with a new brass case. It's too cold out there today.
I loaded 150 tokarev rounds... ;) This is a challenging round to load...

Thanks Skeettx, My cast bullets are from the .452 RCBS 45-230 RN mold. I sized them using a .452 (and) .451 sizer to try to solve the problem to no avail. My barrel is .451 from a slug test.
When I seat a bullet further, my case bulges just at the body by the the head and it then fails the plunk test and my head space gauge. The bullet drops in, but when I press on it with my thumb, it gets stuck. I'm using brass that was given to me. It is from: India, South Korea, Brazil, and the US. I've only tried the Winchester brass thus far for my dummy cartridge. I'm using the Lee 3 Carbide die set and I've even tried the Lee Factory crimp die. Nothing is working. I have a FNX 45 that seems to accept the .452 and .451 sized bullets with the plunk test, but I haven't tried to rack the slide with the dummy cartridge yet. I can't shoot a new factory round yet and try that brass because I had eye surgery two days ago and am limited with what I can do.
I'm doing something wrong that is probably something stupid, but haven't figured it out yet. (All cases were cleaned, trimmed, inspected and checked for head space prior to trying to load the dummy cartridge. I'll send pictures if I figure out how. Should I post this somewhere else in the forum for help?
[smilie=s: Just a bit of a guess here.Your barrel might need to be throated.
Good luck.Have fun.Be safe.

Solved my 45 acp head space problem. I reset all dies and believe that I had too much flair. I sized to .451 and adjusted the flair and also used the lee crimp die and it worked. I'm now at 1.238 OAL for RCBS 45-230 RN boolits in my Springfield XD. A good day.
YEEEE HAWWWW!
And if you still have some loaded ones with an issue,
remove the de-capping rod from the carbide sizing
die, and just bump the cartridge a TAD bit to round out
the case and straighten.
Pulled and reseated 50 rounds of .450 bushmaster. No they all pass the "plunk" test. Now for the work up!
Did a bit of casting 60x45-70 405g,110x308 150g, 110x357 180g .some days it all goes smoothly, 1.5 hours then tumble lubed .
More 9mm in progress. Then after they finish tumbling, more 38sp & 45ACP.
I "need" to straighten out/organize some shelves down there. I have put it off too long. Calling it a "Mess" is an understatement.
Bought a boat load of once fired pistol brass. Vibrator is really getting a workout today ! (get your minds out of the gutter guys !)
600 45 Colt cleaning as I type, yay !
Finished up loading 200 22TCM.
1500 new to me once fired 45 acp brass just calling to be loaded !
