I will play, standing on my head. LOL
Greatest little .22 ever IMHO. I've had mine since the late 80s and only just recently replaced a few parts in it. Not because it needed them, but because I could.
Bought mine in 1976. It was made in 1976 and has the phrase "Made In The 200th Year Of American Liberty" stamped into the barrel on the left side just above the wood of the stock.
For the masses there great guns, I hate mine....I added a Douglass barrel, a b.s. trigger group, restocked it, now I have a gun that will keep up with a $300 savage
Sorry guys not a fan
Mine is in an Archangel stock with the factory barrel and shoots better than it did in the wood stock with bull barrel. 3/8" groups at 50 mag after mag.
I've got several, including a 5 digit serial number from 1965. Great guns.
Love me some 10/22. I have several, including one that belonged to my dad and one my FIL gave me that I made into a 10" SBR. I enjoy them all.
I agree with 55fairlane, I have two of them and very mixed feelings about them. A standard carbine I bought in my 30s as I had wanted one since I was a teenager and my friends had them and I had my father's old Winchester 1906. Still have the 1906 and on a good eye day it will still easily outshoot the 10/22. Also have a breakdown model that stays in my SUV as a truck gun. Shot it in one CMP rimfire sporter match before buying a CZ 455 in response to the 'groups' that it could manage at 25 yds.
Fun, handy and reliable little guns - yes; accurate out of the box - not so much
At one point I had two. LGS owner called me, said say I have a Ruger 10/22 trade in, was the last year they had walnut stocks. Price is pretty reasonable, you interested?
Well yes I was interested. And thank you very much.
I did not shoot it much. But when my nephew turned 18 I gave it to him for a birthday present. My brother was not so happy, "He already has a deer rifle, what does he need a .22lr for?"
Because boys need to be boys.
And my old original early 70's 10/22 is still going strong. I still love it dearly.
I ate well for years because of that little rifle. Uncounted numbers of squirrels, rabbits, coons, and even grouse fell to it and landed in my pot.
We have a lot of history together. I don't shoot it much. Got out of the habit in the big .22lr crunch. But it is secure in the safe, well oiled. Well loved.
Yes, I do believe that Mr Ruger was perhaps inspired by God to make that creation. Or perhaps he channeled a bit of Mr John M Browning.
Mine was made in 78 & I like it.
:)
After decades of acquiring firearms, I finally added my first 10/22, a Challenger, to my collection this year. Truth is, I felt like a gun heretic for not owning one. In my less than knowledgeable mind, there are a few firearms that are a must if you consider yourself a collector. 1911’s, AR’s, S&W revolvers and the venerable Remington 870 come to mind. I think the 10/22 falls in this camp of heavy weights. While I haven’t shot it much, the grand kids are having a ball burning up boxes of 22LR. If for no other reason than their enjoyment, it was a good investment.
Mine is a 10-22 Deluxe, walnut stock and checkering
Sweet gun
Mike
For guys wanting a plinking rifle or a kids gun I do recommend one, but for me, not so much......they are great to teach guys/kids to shoot with.....
I saw a bunch at camp Perry this year, I also saw the cz, savages, and other guns just pain out shoot them
Keep on shooting
Best semi auto 22 rimfire .they have their faults but there easily sorted, not meant to be a match rifle but with a little owner input they can run with the big boys.
My favorite weapons system,I believe between me and the girls we currently house 5 or 6; from done up custom to fairly plain with a trigger job and paint job. We love em!
I bought one the day I turned 18 and shot it for a while and noticed it wasn't as accurate as my Nylon 66. But I shot it happily with a K1.5 Weaver at Jackrabbits and whatever. They are classics.
