Straight vs tapered
I know that hulls are identified as either straight or tapered wall.
Other than the published data, USE ------> Hull - Primer - Power - Wad - Payload.
Why aren't the wads classified as straight or tapered?
For me, this is the most confusing part of shot shell loading, logic would tell you that a straight wall hull needs a straight wall wad correct?
Thoughts???

Correct you need the proper wad. I like Down Range. They offer both. You can use a gas seal for both and then a wad. You can use a straight wall wad in a tapered hull and may have no problem but the AA hulls have a lip at the base that can be a problem with any wad. Conversely, a tapered wad in a straight wall hull may leak a little powder and you may lose some speed/pressure. Will work for sure. But may not be optimal. If all I had were straight hulls and tapered wads, I would go for it, knowing that it may allow powder to leak and lower performance by 100 fps, but beats not having something to shoot.

I agree with jmort. There are a lot of things that won't work in theory but work just fine in practice. Only straight hull I ever had a problem with is Fiocchi.
