Pacific Super Mag Press
We had our twice a year Gunshow this weekend.
Didn't sell much, but I did find this press.
Friend came to help me on Sunday. So I took a break, and walked around.
Saw it under the side of a table.
Asked the guy how much and got it for $50.
I think I got a good deal. Never seen one before.
Missing some parts, but looks in good condition.
Anyone know where I can get the missing center ram part???
Can I replace it with a solid one like the other two?????

You might compare the rams to a common C press ram like a RCBS JR or a Pacific C press.
-
I remember those presses and the double ram Herter's also. I wanted one but did not have the money to spare at the time. They are not exactly rare but you don't see them for sale very often.
-
I have one and paid a lot more than $50 to get it. Right now I use it to size bullets 3 at a time, coated bullets. You can reverse the ram on that press. So I mounted it upside down and you still push down on the lever to run the rams...eventhough it's upside down. How cool is that?
-
Here’s a nice example of that press.
-
I have a Pacific "C" press that I changed the ram to a universal.
I'll see if they are the same.
I collect tools like some people collect shoes.
Might be some kind of sickness.
-
The center ram should be a standard ram. CH4D would have replacements.
Can you post a picture of the current center ram?
-
I'll post when I take it out.
It's shorter with a threaded hole.
I'm thinking some kind of accessories, other than a shell holder, can be fitted into it.
-
With the link bars tied to the top near the die holes that frame is under very little load when forming or sizing cases. The center ram would be good for heavy duty use.
-
I found a web site with information about this press. Now it's gone.
I just found it a few days ago.
Anyone have a site I can go to????

I thought posting ebay links was not allowed?
Max, you are correct. Thanks for pointing that out.
-
Yes! You did get a good deal! I paid a little more for mine! It's a great old school press to work with!!!

Question to anyone else who has one of these.
I know one of the rams has the slot for the primer arm.
Are the other two rams the same????
I kind of remember reading, in the now gone web site, that one of the rams has a hole in it for spent primers to go through.
-
You can search the net for other photos.
The 2 photos that I found both show that only the right side ram is slotted for the priming arm.

Great picture. Just what I needed to know.
Two of the rams have no hole in them.
Thank you

Here is mine! hope it helps!

I dug out the Pacific "C" press to see if the ram would fit.
As soon as I saw it, I knew it wouldn't work.
Took it apart to post some pictures of the rams.
Diameter is the same.
Looks like the owner cut the ram for some reason.
It's taped 1/2-20 thread.
Anyone have any ideas on a replacement????

1/2" x 20 is the thread size for an rcbs H style shell holder, from what I recall. I used one in the automated boolit sizing machine that I built a few months ago.

Maybe you could thread one into that ram and have it work out. It wouldn't be a major deal to cut it shorter and re thread the hole if needed.
The other option is to make a new section to thread in, with the top machined to match the original, or to make a new ram. I could always ask my brother if he can cnc machine something like that with his tormach 1100. He would probably like the experience as he is new to cnc machining.
What is the diameter of the ram, in thousandths of and inch?
-
That might a plan.
I'll get the measurement and get back to you.
I could probably make an extension from the short ram, but I'd rather have it in one piece.
