Resin is not enough.
You will need to make a Micarta like finished product. Inother words, you will have to saturate something to compress in the mold to cure.
Easy enough. Make a mold of the grips, cast in the mold. You will have to make a left and a right. Will take a little work, but should work.
You can vulcanize rubber in the oven also.
Make an hard frame, use clamps and heat in an oven. 375* 15min per 1/4" of material.
Lots of possibilities there.

I had this in-mind, too.
You can get casting resin @ larger hobby stores/chains.
Color tint is possible w/ some brands.
Perhaps a clay mold could be utilized, although I'm not sure about the parting agent that would work ?
One pistol machine rest company sends out a casting package, so that you can make grip adapters to fit your handgun, to then interface w/ the machine rest.
I DK how soft or robust thsi material might be, but again; it shows that the basic premise works.

I read an article on how to mold and cast your own grips. Cant remember the name of the magazine or the time frame. Wish i did Maybe a trip to a hoby store would help. Maybe product Casanite? :(

A very inexpensive pourable or disposable syringe injectable self curing resin is automotive or marine "Bondo" body or hull repair resin.
Common spray silicone and Johnsons Paste Wax are good mould release agents, I have used these products in quick R&D prototype model making to reproduce shaped parts for exhibition. No other trade secrets will be revealed, but these things will work if you figure how to play with them for small injection moulding projects and short runs very inexpensively with zero tool-up costs except suitable nozzle size disposable syringes, mixing cups and popsicle sticks .
casanite (sp) is a metal surface hardener. it's a carbon additive.
