Recently purchased a high grade custom rifle in 308 built on a commercial Mauser action, in 308 with British proofs. Dates from mid 60s.
The scope is 4X with plex crosshairs. It has no writing on it anywhere. The adjustments are precise clicks with the knobs held on w/two screws each.
Bright, clear and shoots the square.
Anyone know what I have ?

That looks like a Bushnell Sportveiw 4X to me. Iv’e used them for years and I can’t remember a single problem. They had white writing on the left side that is easily removed/ worn off. Inexpensive? Yes. Cheap? No. My trusty Nylon 66 wears one now and it lives in the farm truck and hasn’t lost zero ever. I used them on some hard kickers also with no problems.Quote:

That's an older (Japanese) Bausch & Lomb BalforB. The only identification should be on the ocular locking ring.
They're excellent scopes, so it makes sense if it was on a custom Mauser sporter.
Right you are ! Once I cleaned off the dust and got it in a bright light it says Bausch & Lomb. Probably put a Leupold 2.5-8x36 on it and send the B&L off to fleabay.

My mistake. That's why I said "looks like"- although they may have been made at the same plant. List it on S&S first- lots of folks here like fixed power scopes.
