My goal was always to go as slow as feasible and smell the roses! Amazing how being out in nature for some folks is just an extension of the 'gopher mill'! You can see more walking than riding a bike, but biking lets you see more that running or jogging.
Backpacking with the Scout Troop we would at times be passed by occasional hardcore backpackers. Trudging away with two hiking poles and focused straight ahead I would swear all they were looking at is the tip of their fancy hiking shoes (can't call them boots). I enjoy a slower pace. My kid is on the Appalachian Trail right now trying to keep a comfortable speedy pace.
It doesn't matter her pack weight. She was not alone. She had a guy carrying much of the weight.Quote:
