I found a guy who does slip on ones that use a set screw, it leaves a little bit of bugger on the end of the barrel but fits snugly and is notched for the site.

Class III Machine in Texas will do it, I was quoted $235 for an 1894 from door to door but that included shortening the magazine tube, relocating the front sight, and refinishing and was part of a batch, your price may vary. He also did several single shot barrels for me and I had them back on the guns within 2 weeks of shipping.Quote:

Nowadays I thread for suppressors on a five axis mill without removing neither barrel nor trigger from the receiver. The barrel is clamped in a vice with soft jaws near the muzzle. A precision ground gauge pin is used for aligning the bore using a probe and a bit of math. Once aligned the outside diameter and thread are milled using helical/spiral interpolation using a simple macro-program.
The same concept when modifying shotgun chokes. Only, instead of an end mill, I use a grinding point (the machine spindle will do 12.000 rpm) This is just the ticket for those hard-chromed reamer-ruining chokes and the surface only require a light polishing afterwards.
