OK I was asked a question today I could not answer, but with the knowledge base here I told him I could ask here. Here is the question: Could pure bee's wax be used in place of Johnson's wax in the 45/45/10 mix for lubing boolits?

Hi ACC,
I'm thinking the major desired component of JPW that goes into the 45/45/10 is carnuba wax (among other things,) which dries harder than pure bees wax.

Yes. Get beeswax from bee keepers. They have two grades, candles and darker less pretty, which is fine. I have used a mix of 1/3 beeswax, 2/3 beef tallow for at least 40 years. You are in Texas, so it may be a bit soft in the extreme hot weather, but I lived in Virginia and it was OK. Two pounds goes a long way, and five will see you through to old age.
Check with randy he has a good products and is great to work with.

That will result in a lube very similar to NRA 50/50 ...So yes, it will work well as a boolit lube, but you may need to modify your technique to apply it.
