BE86 in Little Dandy
I cannot find BE86 on RCBS Little Dandy Chart. Before purchasing this powder, does anyone use BE86 in their Little Dandy and how much does it measure compared to Alliant Power Pistol? I’m looking specifically for BE86 amounts in rotors 6,7,8 and 9.
Thank you

You could weigh a charge of bullseye and then one of the BE86. 10 charges would be better. then calculate the percentage difference. This gives you a percentge to calculate from the bullseye chart what rotor you need. IE 10 grns bullseye X 5% ( difference betwee two powders) = 15 grns BF86. may not be dead on but will be close.

BE 86 tracks AA2 pretty closely. I get: 6=4.6gr 7=5.0gr 8=5.6gr 9=6.1gr

not a lot of data out there- what are you planning on using it in?

38Spl+P and Mid Range 357 Mag both with 158 LSWC

ah- I use 7.0gr of BE-86 for that. One of these days I'll crony it to see how it compares to my normal load of 6.0gr Unique. It shoots ok in a 2"SP101

I asked Alliant for BE-86 load data for 158 gr lswc and they told me that they haven’t tested any yet and cannot commit to when they’ll get around to testing some. I find their “help desk” a complete waste of time...unlike years ago when they were more helpful and provided recommendations. Times have changed.

It seems odd to me that they market a powder with so little data available. On the online guide they show 8.1gr as max for a 158 cast RNFP. I figured that backing off a little more than 10% should work and the little dandy rotor #10 throws 7.0gr. Works fine, no pressure signs at all. Looking at other calibers, BE-86 loads look like Unique values- by weight, NOT volume. I'll probably finish the can I have and not buy any more until more data is out there. When I get around to chronying, I'll let you know.

Thank you rockshooter...guess I’ll keep using Power Pistol in my 38 Spl+P 158 gr lswc loads until more BE86 data is available, while its Unique and 2400 for my 38-44 and 357 Mag loads.

They’re catering to the action pistol guys with that powder so their data is centered on that activity.
Old fart revolver guys will be at the back of the line. :-(
