Picked up the Remington Number 4 .32 rimfire.

Well, after looking over the Remington #4 in .32 rimfire at the local gun shop, I was able to snag it for $275. The loading gate wouldn't go down unless the hammer was just slightly pulled back. Well, I got it home and took it apart and found that there was a small burr on the hammer almost like a "ding" at one time where the loading gate slid down. Sure enough, I lightly stoned with, polished more so and now it works like a charm. The action is very firm and the hammer comes back to half cock and full cock just like it should.

I ordered a few of the cases from Dixie Gun Works to try loading the rimfire round that way, I'll see how it works and go from there. I plenty of .310 round balls which is what Dixie recommends and black powder.

It is such a fun round to shoot.
Hopefully you enjoy it as much as I do mine.
My 10 yo son loves it. He says it feels more powerful than his .22.

Not sure what a "loading gate" is on a Rolling Block, but glad it was an easy fix! Looks like a nice #4!

A good conversion piece to 32 S&W long.

Slug the bore before considering any further work, or conversion! Some of these old .32RF rifles can have very large groove diameters! I've seen them as big as .316"!!

I've had several of these in .32 rimfire, and some CF converted. They're spectacular little lightweight rifles in the woods, but beware of the takedown models weakness, and if you do convert it to CF, don't go with anything more powerful than the .32 S&W long, and make sure that the takedown lever is always tight, as even factory .32 rimfire loads were capable of shooting the takedown models loose if the levers weren't kept tight.

I took one in on trade a while back with a bad bore. Installed a liner and made it into a 32 S&W.
