My First Post and Picture Submission
OK, I've been reading this forum for a couple of years and thought I had actually registered sometime back, but obviously hadn't. So, as my first post, I thought I would submit a photo of my most recent reloading/casting purchase. Actually, my son worked the deal to buy ~2400 lbs of wheel weights from a garage where a buddy of his works. Supposedly it is an accumulation of ~4 years worth. It came in two 55 gallon barrels about 3/4 full each and bottomed out his (my old) 1993 F150. Just a preliminary sort of the top surface of the pile shown yielded the stick-on weights in the pile to the left, the remaining clip-on pile (not sorted throughout), and the white 5 gallon bucket with about 1" of stems, caps, and assorted trash covering the bottom. Even had a pair of needle nose pliers and an empty CO2 cylinder in there. This isn't the whole pile, but probably 3/4 of it. Now to turn it into ingots and get them ready to cast a few and sell the rest. BTW, I have been reloading since 1974 and casting bullets from about 1975 (I was 15 then) with about a 20 year hiatus for marriage, kids, work, etc. My son re-discovered all my old reloading and casting equipment a few years ago, and is enjoying it like I did back then. I have cast various bullets for my .38 Special, .38 Super, .41 Magnum, and .45 ACP over the years. Mostly Lee and Lyman molds. Been experimenting with powder coating of late with very positive results. That being said, age is a usually a good indicator of wisdom, but not a sure bet. I have already learned a great deal from reading some of the posts from everyone here. This is a great repository of information. Glad to finally be active on here.
