How big of a bullet can I shoot safely?

Here's the deal: I want to shoot jacketed bullets in my 40-82, Since I live in Canada its a hassle to cross the border and get the bullets I need. I found the Hornady .405 FP interlock's for sale from a supplier. Thats great, but they are .411 dia, and I shoot .406. I will order a .401 lee resizer jsut so I can open it up to .406 so I can try sizing them down.

My question is, can I attempt to shoot .411 or will it get stuck in the barrel since its copper and not softer lead?

Lead I will go up to 3 thousandths over bore with no concerns.

Jacketed, not so much.

.411 to .406 is a pretty big jump. Should be doable with a good enough press and good lube.

Howdy, I tried this for my 401WSL (also 406 diameter). It worked great!!! Until spring back......which someone on this forum prophetically predicted. I then began reducing in 3 steps. Buffalo Arms carries appropriate jacketed bullets as well. Really wish I could figure out how to make those rifles cycle with cast!

The bullets do not get stuck but they do raise pressures compared to a groove dia bullet.

Il try to get a resizer then. Hopefully it will work. Will a bigger bullet affect accuracy or anything else?
