Lyman 454424... RCBS SAA270 close second.
MANY MANY I REALLY LIKE!
In my Uberty 7 1/2" SAA I like and use the Ideal/Lyman 454-190 over a load of Red Dot. It just soots very well that that bullet and load that I use and I also lean towards the traditional RNFP boolit.
In my Uberti 1858 Remingtons with conversion cylinders - I use the Lee 452-200 RNFP with either BP or a Red Dot load - using the Lyman CB Handbook data and keeping them around 700 fps due to the conversion cylinder. Fun lots to shoot and I see no reason to push the limits..
Should add that I usually use soft lead if I have it or if not, range lead - tumble lube for smokeless loads and finger lube with my BP lube for the BP cartridges.
454190 sized to .454 and 9 grains unique if very accurate in all my colt SAAs, New frontier, New Service and anaconda revolvers. Also it has enough neck tension that I can load 10 in the tube of my Uberti replica Burgess and fire away without the bullets pushing in.
For target the Lee 452-200 either RF or rnfp. For other use the Lee 452-255 RF
I vote for the Ideal 454424. Keith's design, works well, and it's the prettiest bullet.
Mp 45-640 with the large hollow point Attachment 306401
454424. But I also really like the Lee 255 RF when I'm not going for max power.
Btw I like both of those in .45 ACP too.
454260 accurate big lube groove carry enough lube to shoot at least 50 through my Colt 4 5/8ths 45 Colt revolver or my new built '73' winchester. Very clean with Old E 3F powder
I ended up finding another LEE 452-255-RF that doesn't look like it was made by angry beavers and drunk monkeys

I'm getting great results with an Accurate H&G 68 boolit and 6.0 Bullseye. Nice moderate load and accurate too.
I’m just punching holes in paper, been using the Lyman 452460 for years, lately with HP-38.
Favorite .45 Colt bullet = Lyman # 454190 Rnd FN. It shoots as accurately as the Lyman Keith inspired 454424 in my 7-1/2" bbl'd SAA & a Ruger NV with a 4-5/8" tube. Groups run ~2-3" at 25 yds if I'm having a good 'eyes' day. The load is 8.0 gr of modern Unique and I size to 0.454".
Lyman's 452460 or the H&G #68 actually group a bit better, but print 3" lower than the 454190 bullet. Too much trouble to hold over. Best regards, Rod
RCBS 270 SAA
I just does it all well
Lyman 454190 for general fun. I've been shooting them since 1970.
I aquired a 235gr RNFP group buy mold that casts 1/2 WW/1/2 lead at .453 and they weigh 240gr with that alloy. Shoots to POA with the New Vaquero's fixed sights at ~900fps.
The Lee 452-255 RNFP also does very well with 38gr of 3f, compressed, with a card wad and Emmert's lube, but it's a lot of buck and roar.

Yeahbub- I believe I have the same mold . I purchased for my .45acp . The bullet feeds just fine but will not chamber reliably. I think the ogive is too long for the chamber . Mine is an unmarked Lee 6 cavity .Do you have a mold or bullet number as I need to sell mine and get a bullet that will fit my pistol. Yours is the only reference I have found on this bullet .
Thank you , Bruce H
RCBS 45-255-SWC and 8.5-9.0 gr of Unigue.
Runs about 900 fps, out of My Ruger NM Vaquero with 4 5/8" barrel.
Works great for deer.....and probably anything else if needed.
