Ok so I have some lined boolits is it possible to remove the line and hi tek cost them? I’m thinking lay them on their side and but in toaster oven to melt lube then acetone bath then coat? Has anyone tried this? To much residual lube?

I have tried without success. The surface has to be extremely clean in order for the Hitek to coat properly. You may be able to powder coat them.

You can wash them in deluted hydrochloric acid to remove the lube, I would just start with freash cast bullets.
If they have been sized, the pores in the lead have been sealed and that boolit will no longer be coatable with HiTek coating even if it's cleaned.

I'd still give it a try. The way I clean old lubed boolits for PC has worked just fine....it might work for Hi-Tech too.
Let them soak in gasoline overnight. Swirl them good every now and then (set your alarm for the middle of the night.....just kidding) Anyway...swirl them once in a while....then remove from the Gas....now put them in Acetone to remove the remaining oils. Its been working for me with PC....it might be worth some experimenting. You really don't have anything to lose.

...never used lube so I can't say how effective this is, but it makes sense empirically:
Boil water- soak lubed bullets however long it takes to melt out the wax. Should float to the surface of the pot...Then clean with solvents as noted by other posters.
Try boiling them in water and detergent............
This is an accurate statement. Hitek is more of a stain rather than a coating. It can only adhere properly if the pores of the lead are still open. Sizing the bullet closes these pores. It will not matter how clean you get the bullet, the pores will not open back up. Therefore you cannot get a good first coat adhesion with the Hitek after the bullet has been sized.Quote:

Throw them back in the casting pot and recast. The lube will act as flux when the bullits melt. You will be starting with 'virgin' bullets for the coating.
