any further testing on this? im an alliant junkie and use 300MP in handguns, but hadnt thought of it as a rifle powder. Usually IME ball powder doesnt like reduced rifle loads. im going ot try some of the 23 gr loads in 308 with a lee 170 gr and see how it goes out of my ishapore this week.
I've been using it in my two 32-40's with great success. I'll have to try and work up a load for the 38-55 also, but first I'll have to order up an 8 pound jug of it.
I amm also interested in how well 300mp does in the 44 magnum 260gr-300gr range
I thought MP 300 was Alliant's response to H-110 and 296. Interesting to see it can be used in reduced loads as H-110 and 296 cannot.
fired a few loaded at 23 grs today. two were totally normal, one had some primer flatteneing but no other pressure signs. this weekend might do a 25 round test if time allows
did soem shooting today. accuracy is on par with regualr ammo out of my 2A1 ishapore at 50 meters. 100 it opens up a bit but still good plinking ammo for 14 cents a shot
anyone else use it in the 44 mag?
Accurate 5744 if you can find it not as bulky as SR4759 but a great powder that fits the bill for almost all cast loads. Not position sensitive and fast burn rate like SR4759. can be used from 222 through 45/70 with good to great results. Anybody in OK or KS Powder Valley in Winfield KS has it for 28.95 per pound in stock
accurate powders here are 34-39$ a pound on average
