Data Request for
I snagged a Lee .452-230-TC off the PIF section, and I do not have any manuals with that projectile. I dont have a lee manual and I know I need to get one, but I want to load and shoot some right away.
I did some searching on the net and found a suggested overall length of 1.170. The reference I found said it was Lees suggestion for COAL.
I have powder as follows for standard pistol.
HP38 / w231
unique
WSF
Id appreciate if someone would take the time to post the data for any of these powders, and verify the length. I will pick up a lee manual!
Thanks
~Bazoo
MODS, could you please add "Lee .452-230-TC" to the thread title. I somehow cut it out. Thanks. ~John

Judging by the oal I assume you're referring to loads for the 45 ACP? I have the Lee manual second edition right here beside me. It doesn't show a specific load for truncated cone bullets but just 230 grain lead. Here is what I have that shows most of the powders you listed.

Lyman 4th shows OAL @ 1.170 for TL452-230-TC in 45ACP ,I run mine a little shorter with P.C. (powder coat).

Thanks Grmps, I missed that thread somehow.
Buckeye, Thankyou for the confirmation on the OAL.
I dont have the Lyman Cast bullet handbook 4th edition either. Although I have 5 or 6 manuals, including at least 1 of the older Cast bullet handbooks.

I loaded up some of the 452 230 tc tl. A few with 5.8 wsf and a few with 6.0 grains wsf, according to the lee data page provided. Definitely too much powder. Felt like it was +P range on the 5.8 and strong +p with the 6.0, but didnt see anything that made me think they were going to blow me up, so I shot them. Got lucky really, cause all I had to go on was the info here, and what I found on other forums. I shoulda known better and stuck with powder I know and loads that were proven. Will learn from it though.
I backed down to 5.2 and 5.3 grains for a few and felt that 5.2 duplicated the recoil and ejection of the factory i'd been shooting, so im going with that for some plinking bullets. See how accuracy goes.
