Local Wal-mart was still sold out of 22 yesterday, had lots of everything else. Everyone else had it, LCS, Dick's. The reason is obvious, Wal-mart has the lowest prices. Unless the price difference changes, they may stay sold out forever.

22LR is available all over the place in the Albany, GA. You can get bulk packs of 525 rds for $23.00 or 50rd packs of RWS 50 for $18.99. pick your poison and have fun. I shoot the 22 quite a bit now with my daughter. I had a metal worker friend cut me some AR 500 silhouettes in the shape of rams, turkeys, chickens, pigs, zombies, and aliens. My daughter loves shooting at them, and she can usually run the line from 50 yards with her pink 22 Crickett, lol.
Her rifle is another matter all together. She "decorated" it with stickers. Mickey mouse, ponies, flowers, princesses, and all matter of girly things. Then she forced me to fit a giant, pink, fake jewel to the bolt knob.
Sorry not going 1342.5 mi (22 hrs 11 mins) for 22lrs
I love that your daughter is personalizing her firearm. I love seeing "theater art" where soldiers personalized their weapons, it's a tradition that goes back at least a thousand years to viking times. Nothing better than a loved and used firearm. And affordable to feed to boot. Hopefully those prices will show up in WI some day too.
I envy you guys that have .22 again. I haven't seen it up here for three or four years. I just bought some from Midway last month.
The .22 will never come back until its at .50 a box. That will never happen again but I don't see why $1.00 a box isn't the norm.
it may return but the .22 cost has to come down. i only have one 22rf and i do like it. but i like my 20 vartarg more. i should load up some 32gr noslers and trail boss just for poops and giggles.
i remember going to GeeBee (local department/grocery store) and buying a brick (remmys, winnys,...) for $9 or 10. the last time i've bought them, i was at a grices(lgs) and i payed $14.90 for a brick of remmy thunderbolts(they where on sale, i think that they where $17 or 18 regular). i think that federals used to go for $17/brick. this will just show you how long it has been. i have a couple thousands rounds, but i like my 20vt more. i still take my marlin 25 out once in awhile just to shoot.
one of these days, i'll have to figure out what the cost is from a .22 and a 20vt.
Too much demand for the price to come back to where it was.
Those days are gone. 7 cents a round seems to be the new average for good prices.
Debating buying another couple thousand Federal Champion auto target.
Bud's seems to have them in at a good price most of the time.
They are my favorite for smooth running in a semi auto, especially my Ruger Mk III's 22/45s
It's possible it'll come back down if people quit buying everything that comes in stock. I see 22 all the time now. Same thing as all other ammo. If it slows down the price drops. Dealer cost hasn't gone up much over the past few years on 22 just the price they were asking. Of course you can't blame them with all the flippers.
I've been seeing them fairly regular. At the last gun show I went to a couple weeks ago one vendor had a literal pallet of Federal Automatch for $18/325. If my math is right that's 5.5 cents per. I've been seeing people dumping large quantities on a local/regional forum lately for around 6c.
I know some people say there's never been a shortage, because they've been able to get them by whatever means or price, but until the shelves are full and you can find them whenever you look, there is a very real shortage. I'll be glad when I can walk into Bimart and buy a brick for $20. A real brick (500), none of this 325 round mini-brick stuff. Realistically I think that's ballpark what we can expect once supply and demand finally equalize and the shelves are full.
22 are around here .But for what they ask for them.I will not get any for the supply I have already. I got before all this broke out.But when it gose down hope the price on it all dose.I see at one place that 22mags had drop some by $4 .So hope that 22lr will also.I was told by one person that work in that one store that to give it about 2 years from now for it to get to some what normal.People are not buy for have it now, but what they want now.not like before. So that is a good sign.He said they doing the same for guns also, beside ammo.
What's a 22 Mag, is that some kind of new round??? No wait, I bet they fit those two rifles I have that are chambered in some obsolete RF caliber!
Joking aside I am beginning to think the idiot manufacturers have the idea everyone threw away their 22 Mag rifles and pistols and switched to the 17HMR! I have not seen any 22 mag on the shelves for several years now but those stikin 17s are EVERYWHERE! It's as if all the manufacturers are using all those cases for the 17s and have no interest in loading the 22 Mag anymore, the shelves here are loaded with 17s and it's high time they loaded some 22s!!!!!
In the midst of all the .22 rim fire insanity, the one question that seems to stay stuck in my head is why do companies continue to introduce new model rifles/handguns in .22 rim fire when 1/2 the country is on an "I ain't paying that much to shoot one" budget?

My LGS just got in around 50k rounds of various 22LR ammo and was surprised to see that he got 22 bricks of 22 Mag in
22 or is OK over here but expensive haven't seen 22 magfor a few years. But a lot of people are using 17 hmr but that's way To pricy for me !
I did ..I did I saw .22 LR in the case at Wal-mart. This is the first in I have there since the scare began. It was Rem. Thunder bolt and Federal. This was like 4 PM
The store had been getting it in from time to time but the hoarders always soaked it up at 7 AM.
There's a guy on a regional forum that is trying to sell 10,000 rounds of 22 lr for $500 (5c each). It's all recent production and looks like a fair amount is mini-mag and the like. It's been up for sale for a week and a half now.
He wants to sell it all together, so I assume it's too much cash for the average guy to lay out, and not quite cheap enough for a gun show vendor to buy and make much profit on. It would have been gone in 5 minutes a few months ago.
