lessens the surface tension on the lead to cause better fill out in the moulds. ...or so I have been told.
And increases the ductility of the resultant alloy.
Thanks!

Yes, genuine.

Quick trip to Goodwill this morning. $7.15 total and the wrench was $1.91
3lbs 15oz of pewter.
Just a public service anouncement. If you pick up a piece of Boardman & Hart pewter, you might want to reconsider melting it down.
I bought this plate at a local thrift store for $4.00 plus tax. Put it on Ebay and it sold for $86.00. Must have some collector value. 8.5" diameter. 8 ounces.

What do y'all think about these? Avon sales awards from the late 80's - early 90's. They scratch easily with a key. Fairly hefty (I'd say 3lbs each?). They are all coating with some kind of finish. One thing that makes me think no is I could not bend the brim of the hat on the one on the left.

For the right price, I'd buy one and see how a chunk of it floated in a pot of known pewter brought just to liquidus.
Then walk away. There will be more around the corner.
If you can't bend the brim of that hat they aren't pewter. I found a candle stick holder that was massive, I could still bend it with thumb pressure.

3.16 pounds for $14.97. Not stellar, but okay.
Going to see if these picture frames are still around on Saturday when they're 50% off.
Never saw the Wallace mark before. Thanks for posting!
Gladly
My recent find, giggled like a girl.

I included the mullingar mark this one is stamped made in Ireland. Never seen the ****et mark before, it was a hefty piece and three collectable spoons. 14$ Cdn for 3 pounds not bad up here and much cheaper then solder.
Be well
