I’m thinking that maybe, like the 400 Astra 9mm Largo, it will shoot .357” Jacketed Bullets best. Have you tried it?

Don't have any jacket .357.
This thing is giving me a work out.
Getting close..........I hope.
Lee 356-123gr, plain base gas check, carnuba red lube, sized to .357.
Load tried this time............
All 10 rounds at 50yds
Blue Dot
5.7gr..........1-1 1/2.......2 fliers..........POA
5.9gr..........1-1 1/2.......4 fliers..........POA
6.1gr..........2-3............no fliers.........POA
700x
3.3.............1-1 1/2......no fliers.........POA
SR7625
3.5gr...........2-3...........4 fliers..........6" high
The Blue Dot was very dirty, 700X very clean, and SR7625 inbetween.
Will try different loads of the 700x next weekend.
This is the test from Sunday.
Not to bad.
Lee 356-123gr 700x
All with alu flat base check.
All at 50yds. Off the bench. 5 shot groups
3.1.........2-3.............2-3
3.3.........1-2.............1-2
3.5.........1 1/2-2.......1-2
3.7.........2-3.............1 1/2-2
Tried a RCBS TC 356-127
3.1..........1-2............1-2
Seems like the 700x is more consistent, uses less powder. Cleaner burn.
But it does seem to shoot 2" to the left and 1" low.
Picture of the 3.5 second group.
Attachment 253213
Will load more and move to 100yds.
Shot some of the Lee 356-123, round nose.
But this time no gas check, powder coated.
Shot about the same as last week.
Also tried some Lee 357-124 TC TL boolets.
Powder coated. No gas check.
Same 700x powder. 3.1 and 3.3.
Not as good as the round nose.
I also noticed the step on the lube band, would sometimes hang up and make it hard to feed.
They didn't shoot that great, so just won't use them.
Seems like 3.3 of 700x, with the Lee 357-123 RN is the load.
At least in my rifle.
I've always thought those were neat rifles. Maybe I'll have one someday. Thanks for the detailed reports, it'll be useful if I ever do.
If the cases are to short could you just leave the bullet out long and headspace on the bullet instead of the case? Just wondering
