The first ones were only made for the big military calibers. They were always a special order item, made when the order was received. Sometime after the second version was introduced they were available in any caliber Ideal had cherries for.
They were last cataloged in 1955.
What caliber?
The one pictured is 50 GOV'T
I need to take and post a few pics! :)
Can I post a picture of my spouse here???
Pcmacd, I think it would be illegal to post her "equipment " on this forum
Well, not illegal but likely against the rules.
I was thinking a portrait, but you got me beat, dirty dude.
I was thinking of the the entirety of the spousal unit as equipment, not the parts, but you do make a point.

Winchester 38-55 loading tool.
A friend gave me this and the other tools. There’s also an ideal mold for a 308 bullet, which appears to be brass. Another mold is marked 45-75. All the molds have the mold and handles integrated into a single unit. They all have some rust, but I’m surprised at the amount of bluing left on them. Most of what you see in the photos it’s just dirt. I’m soaking them and WD-40 at the moment. Someone had filled the mold cavities with grease several decades ago. So there is some hope.

Winchester molds for 25-20 and 38-55

Winchester loading tool for 25-20.
The tools all look usable. Will clean them up. Grease and 4-0 steel wool. I know they’re not especially rare, but they are interesting. They deserve to be cleaned up. I hate dirt and rust on tools.
Old Lyman shotgun priming tool.

This tool is for loading the cylinder of a Uberti cap & ball 1873-type revolver. Somewhat the same idea as the Lyman tool, but made only a few years ago, which shows that there isn't much new under the sun.

Der Gebirgsjager, right up until the Kung Flu Plague shut everything down, the loaders for cap and ball revolvers like you show were for sale on Vendor's Row and in use on the firing line of the Pistol Range at Ft Shenandoah, VA, home of the North South Skirmish Association. I've worn one out and am well into my second shooting my Remington New Model. "Don't leave home without it!" :Fire:

PS There is also a cartridge loading accessory that looks even more like it... I have one in 38 S&W, and it does really resemble the C&B tool. :)
Was rooting around for my screw box and found these. News paper packing had a Feb 1969 date . Stamps are 10¢ & .06¢

A gunshow friend of mine used to be a big seller of Tamarack Lube. He would sell a case or so (a few sticks at a time) at just about every show. I wish I had bought and squirreled away more! :(
