You've been given lots of expensive scope advice, much of it I agree with...BUT, If you've been happy with Bushnell's in the past, I suspect you have a bum scope.
BUT, before you try to exchange it. Look close at the rings and mount, to make sure everything is tight...and NOT overly tight.
Another thing is, have you shot this Savage Axis before? or any other Savage Axis? They come with a flimsy plastic stock, that can effect accuracy if you don't have a consistence grip on it shot to shot, the stock flexes different if you hold it different, and it can put pressure on the barrel in a inconsistent fashion when that happens. First thing I did with my Savage Axis, was to replace the stock with a Boyds wood stock.
