Would a .454 Casull Rossi 92 meet your needs? Just a question of finding one.
I think I'm settled in my mind on Henry Big Boy All-Weather for both .357 and .45-70. The load tube doesn't bother me at all.
I will say this - I don't think I'm going to be able to limit myself to getting just two leverguns. :)
Folks,
I know this is an old thread but I found it while looking for 460 S&W cowboy load data for rifles.
I own two BHA guns, one Model 90 carbine in 460 S&W, the other a Model 89 rifle in 500 S&W. I noted other posts about the "roughness" of the action for the price. All I can say is; these rifles are made to very tight tolerances and both of mine have digested over 1200 heavy loads using ADI 2205. They were "tight" at first but with use they are now smooth as butter. The powder I use for heavy gas-checked boolit loads in both is (made in Australia) ADI 2205. The "equivalents" of this powder are:
Hodgon H4227 / H110
IMR IMR4227
Winchester W296
Norma R- 123
Accurate Arms AA1680
Vihtavuori N120
However, right now I'm researching the other end of the scale. I want to use my Big Iron 89 carbine in 460 for Cowboy Action matches and I was looking for some cowboy loads to stuff under my nominal 250 grain hard cast boolits [smilie=w:
I'm thinking of carefully measuring the boolit air gap under 12 - 12.5 grains of Trail Boss and would appreciate the thoughts of any cowboy who has travelled this trail.
Start a new thread.
I would love to have one. But yeh Gondwana, you should start a new thread with pictures of those beauties!! They just aren’t talked about enough and IMO one of the most interesting lever actions out their.
They look like nice guns but they are just way too expensive I can think of better ways to spend $3500.
