Well, that's a pretty good price for the rifle, but those sights are really really pricey. The one on my Ballard is original as well, and it adds a bunch to the vale. I wanted a an original Ballard Gallery sight for a rifle I once owned. I couldn't afford one so I had some made. Now I have three copies of the Ballard Gallery sights but only lever guns to use them on. I should sell a couple and try regain some of my money on them.
The .32-40 with a really nice bore is a darn nice deer rifle (among other things). I hope it gets out in the woods once in a while.

Now there is a handful of amazingly wonderful rifles, Huvius!
I imagine that they have taken a lot of really large critters in really interesting places.
Thanks for posting those.

Lifetime collections accumulate like clothes hangers in dark closets....
Don't have any photos to post, but besides early Marlins, I've always had a soft spot for nice single shots.
There are three Sharps, and three Rolling Block Pedersolis out in the safe, along with 1885 Browning and a Wincherster/Miroku, and a couple of #4 Rolling Block .22s... and my first firearm, a Marlin/GlenField single shot .22.
Two Rugers, a .35 Remington Bolt pistol, a TC Encore, and three Thompson Contenders in .223, 7TCU, 30-30, .35 Rem, and 45-70.
Unless otherwise noted, all are 45/70.
Like most folks I don't get to shoot as much as I'd like, or as often.

1874 French Gras
I got real close to reloading for this, but when it came down to having my recent gun auction, I decided to sell her, so she is gone. I kept the bayo & scabbard, as they weren't matching ser # ...as the rest of the gun was.
I have shot this Rifle, back in the 1990s, when I got her (before I started reloading), I had a gunsmith/custom ammo guy, make a box of ammo for her...still have one loaded round left.

You'll probably never see another one like it ...
A 9.5x47R Grundy Martini Action Schuetzen Rifle, vintage somewhere between 1890 and 1910. There are 3 known rifles in the US in the obsolete 9.5x47R caliber ...
For Starters ...

Attachment 136408John Boy, is 3 in the USA in 9.5 x 47R only by your maker or 3 all makers together? Here is my FW Kessler, 9.5 x 47R. No proofs so I assume that is pre 1891? My rifle is not nearly as good of condition as yours.

That is one incredibly cool rifle there rwsem. Awesome. I would like to see more photos when you get it. I assume it is a .45-70.
Some folks that would really like to see it and might be able tell you more about it can be found at http://www.doublegunshop.com/forums/...Board=7&page=1
Dang, that one really is an eye opener.

Supposed to be .45-70 but looks like an aftermarket barrel with a quarter rib, so I'll cast the chamber to ensure dimensions. Really looking forward to getting it. I have a Pedersoli cavalry carbine to go with it. My two other 19th Century Firearms were OEF bring backs; a Snider Mk IV and a Martini-Henry. I'll have to pull those out for a pic soon...
