Need help for loads with a Lee 150 grain cast bullet in 30-06 cartridge.

I am a competitive shooter that thinks factory bullet cost way too mutch these days..

I cast all of my bullets in handguns, but are new to cast rifle bullets.

I want to cast a Lee 150 grain bullet with gas check for use in a Remington 700, 30-06 rifle.

Does anyone have a good load for this bullet/cartridge with Norma or Vihtavuori powder?
In Norma, i have 204 and 19 powder, and in Vihthavuori powder, i have N310, N320, N330 and N340.

I want as much speed i can get with cast bullets with gascheck. I`m shooting at a distance of 100 - 200 metres.

Today i load 57 grain of Norma 204 with a Nosler Custom Competition 155 grain HPBT bullet.

If you want any kind of accuracy with a lubed GC'd cast bullet in your 30-06 with a probable 10" rifling twist the velocity will be maxed out at around 1940 fps, especially for the 200 M shooting. Obtaining reasonable accuracy at 50 Meters or even 100 Meters will not correlate to the same level of moa accuracy at 200 Meters. A quality cast PC'd bullet may get a bit higher velocity and maintain accuracy at 200 meters.

Larry's right about the velocity. A better approach for target shooting would to be using a heavier, higher ballistic coefficient bullet at around 1850 to 1900 fps. If you can get it in Norway I'd recommend something like the Lyman #311299. For doing load development try downloading GRT (Gordon's Reloading Tool). It's free, and there are a lot of videos on how to use it on youtube.

A heavier bullet would probably be better, but if you want to run the 150s, the Quickload info below may help.

Guy walks into the shop asking how to install a piece of crown..... tossing him the key to the Weinig 5 head moulding machine probably,isn't that great of an idea. A lesson I recently learned,the hard way. Fellow wanted to know how to get a .45 cal sumthin or other cast rifle rig in the "winners circle".... I gave'm about 90% of the data(the Weinig). Come to find out,he didn't know what a bore rider was?

So,yes... you can get the Lee 150 into the fast lane but,you'll be miles ahead in your quest to stick with low velocity,easy button posts above.

Lyman's 4th edition of cast bullets is helpful, they list one Viht powder, N105 a mag pistol powder, start at 19.5 grns do not exceed 27 grns velocity 1880 to 2302 fps pressures are very high for cast bullets, if you can get Reloder 7 there's another 200 fps in it for you at much less (approx 75% of) pressure start at 28 grns for 1953fps, DNE 36.5 grns for 2508 fps. Needless to say you'll need very hard alloy unless you're happier at around 2000 fps with both the powders mentioned.
Lowest pressure of all is IMR 3031 but it's not REACH compliant so unless someone has a pile stored away and willing to sell/trade it off you're buggered.
The old stand-by 18 grains of 2400 is a great and accurate load, around 1650 fps and slowly work your way up, as with all pistol powder great care is needed as the pressures suddenly take off like a rocket, but 18 grns gives around 21000 psi gentle on bullets, barrels, cases and shoulders.
