How many of you guys use Titegroup orIMR 4227 in loading cast rifle loads?

I only recently became aware of these two being used in loading cast bulletts. Everyone please chime in if you have been using them succesfully.

15 to 16 grains 4227 in my '68 Marlin 336 30-30 with a custom 185 grain bullet Tom@Accuratemolds made the mold for me. 31-180R I think I remember. Shoots about 1/2'" at 50 yards. My favorite 30-30 load.

Depends... I load a lot of titegroup for handgun rounds..and occasional imr 4227 as well. I have plenty of long guns in pistol calibers.. 38spl, 357 mag, mm mag, 45 colt...etc. I'm shooting all cast in those.. So yes..im using those powders in cast loads for rifles...

I use Titegroup in .44Rem Mag for full mag loads in a Desert Eagle. But with TG you need a good metering system when approaching max loads. A tenth of a grain can be devastating.

I use titegroup in 38spl and 9mm here lately.

IMR 4227 for 44mag loads for pistol and rifle.

4227 is one of the small-rifle-cartridge powders of choice. If you're playing with Bees, Hornets, or Fireballs, it should be on your list. It's wjat my K-Hornet needed for cast.

4227 is showing some promise with boolits in 7x57 but testing is ongoing.

I don't use much Titegroup but 4227 is very good in many cast loads for rifle bullets.

I use IMR4227 with some of my .30-06 cast loads with very good success.

No experience with Titegroup however.

No Titegroup in the house. IMR 4227 works very well for 300 BLK supers.

I use IMR4227 in .308 Win under a Lyman 31141 (170 gr.), in .303 British under NOE 316299 (200 gr.) and .44 mag for boolit weights from 250 gr. to 270 gr.

I use a lot of Titegroup in rifle loads for mid to light velocities

Some of my typical loads

All Titegroup:

223 Rem (CZ-527, not semi-auto): 5.0 grains under a 225-55-FNGC, 1630 fps
7.62 x 39 (CZ-527, not semi-auto): 7.5 grains under 312-155GC, 1360 fps
30-30: 6.1 grains under C309-170GC, 1070 fps
30-06 (Garand): 13.0 grains C309-200GC, 1500 fps (not cycling, of course)
Enfield, 303 British: 10 grains under a SAECO 177 grain, plain based, 1450 fps
7.65 Mauser: 10.5 grains under 314-299GC, 1350 fps

Either of the 4227’s with cast bullets in 45 Colt work well for the upper end, or “Ruger” loads for me. I’ve never been able to get the same level of accuracy with H110. Also have had good luck with 4227 and 170 grain cast bullets in 30-30

I use 24gr 4227 with .75gr dacron filler under Lee 459-405-HB in a 45-70 Trapdoor with 20" barrel for 1120fps. First time I used 4227 for a reduced rifle load was in a Ruger M77 6mm Rem plinking load of 16gr and a Rem 80gr Rem SP that shot into one hole at 50yds. That might translate to cast loads in similar capacity cartridges.

No Titegroup used, but a lot of 4227 has gone down my rifles. I've used it in 30-06, 7.65x53, & 8x57 pretty consistently. I've also shot quite a bit in 22 Hornet, 22 Jet, and 45 Colt. Also tried in 38 special (200 gr boolit), 357 mag, and 44 mag but generally stay with Unique, 2400, and H110 in those. Glad I've got 5 pounds of it. Very useful. Steve

Titegroup is my go to powder for 9mm, 38 special, 45acp and 38 super, It's like Bullseye. I've heard a lot of bad things about it, but my experience after having used five pounds or so has been great.

4227 is my go-to powder in .32-40. Works better than anything else I have so I stick with it. If they ever discontinue it I'll cry, like I cried when they dropped 4759.

Charge: 14.0 grains, 1400fps.
Bullet: 185 and 190 custom jobs from Accurate, cast 1:30 tin:lead
Case: W-W, with 1/8" felt wad in mouth
Primer: Federal Large Pistol
Lube: Javelina Schuetzen, 75/25 beeswax/alox

Bullet breech seated 1/8" ahead of case. One case= hundreds of shots, no re-sizing just de-re prime & charge the case at the shooting bench. 1"+ accuracy @ 200 yards (with 20x Unertl). Darned slow, but accurate!
