I have a few pictures that my wife wants hung on a smooth brick wall over the fireplace.
I don’t want to damage the brick or mortar and tried removable adhesive Velcro stickers.
Any ideas?

Small hooks screwed into the ceiling at the edge of the bricks? Black fishing line from the hooks to the pictures.
Alien tape? I bought a roll and tried to reattach a headliner with it--didn't work. But the TV commercials are impressive.

There is no way to hang a sizable picture without a hole some place. What I did was make a 3/16" drill hole at the top of the brick in the mortar joint so that you can not see the hole when standing on the floor, then drove a 12# common nail into a stud behind the brick at the center to hang a 48" x 72" seascape with wood frame. Used a spring loaded 3' long trigger activated grabber to place the twisted wire on the nail. Too much fun to put up and take down.
3M makes a so-called removeable hanger ??

3m command hangers work on brick as long as it isn't a powdery surface.
Hole drilled into the concrete between bricks is very easy to patch and pretty much invisible after. Could use a screw and anchor or go deep enough to get into a stud.
Make a stand to hold the picture on the mantle, no holes anywhere!
Depending on the weight, my daughter used hot glue to mount a hook.
I have seen mounts that fit between bricks, tensioning between the two bricks. I don't know where to get them though.
Hot glue WILL fail over time, would only use that or the tacky putty, or command strips for anything with a real frame and glass. Drill

Put them on an easel or somewhere else.
Not the most appealing picture given the "rural" hangers' but does show how pictures are hung for a Palter & Lathe (Or Brick) wall without drilling holes:

If you use ANY adhesive method without mechanical attachment, you will be sorry.
I vote for the drill the mortar between bricks. Then you could even use the tapered plug inserts that are used in drywall. (leaves you with a screw head protruding to hang from)
If you ever want to remove it, do so and patch the small hole with either mortar or the newer silicon patch compound with sand. jd
I had that when I lived in one of the "Placard" houses in Pacific Grove. Had special hangers that hooked over the molding and attached to the back of the picture. The whole house was Period, even the wiring, all 3 circuits.
It would work if there were anchor points either side of the brick and the molding wasn't objectionable.
Hoodat's right.
