I just got into 6.5mm bullets but have used GCs on several other calibers. I have two molds, different manufatures, RCBS and Lee that I can't get the check on easily. I take my chamfer tool and remove any burrs but still roll up lead when I set them. Also made a tool to expand the check a little but this is tedious and I ruin a few. Is this normal for the 6.5 or do I have a lot that is on the small side ot the tolerance?

Check your shank on your cast boolit to make shure it is not oversize. I think some place in sticky's that they give the maximum shank size for each caliber. Also on the LASC web sit they have this information also.
Undersize GC's? Maybe but not likely. Oversize GC shanks on the boolets, most likely.
You can go to a softer alloy and get a smallet boolet but that may not be what you want to do.
GC flairing tools can be made from an oversize pin punch that is ground to the proper dia.
I should have mention it, if the shank is oversize i would see if the manufacture would give you a new one.
The RCBS bullet is shooting great so I will keep this mold. I have several 5 shot groups measuring less than 1 1/2" at 100 yrds and 2 less than 1" I'm afraid if I ask for a bullet with a smaller shank then the bore ride section and bands will also be smaller. Don't want that as they are right on barrel dimensions now. I did modify the check expander tool a little to make it easier to use.
Place a large ball beraing on the check and give it a tap. Quick and easy.
what are you using to seat GC's? a lee push through sizer may work better.
