Krag action
Has anyone had any experience with using a Krag action
for a 30-30 or any of the 30-30 based cartridges such
as 25-35 or the 38-55. Seems like years ago I saw
several in the 25-35 caliber but never paid attention
if they would properly feed.
What I am thinking about is building up a 35-30-30
and have several very nice usable Krag actions to choose
from.

A Krag in 35/30 would just be friggin' AWESOME. 35 caliber just works and is so easy to work WITH.
I have nothing to offer the conversation other than encouragement but if you managed to build one that fed/functioned and was modestly accurate, I would be quite jealous.

Based on the Krag being sized & scaled for the 30-40 Krag cartridge; I would tend to doubt it would work. But a .35 Krag wildcat or a .35 Win probably would like grease thu a goose.
Are any of your actions for sale?

Rather than gamble on making the magazine feed .30-30-class cartridges, why not simply load the .30-40 down to those levels and retain the ability of loading it back up to its potential should the need arise.

My krag is the best cast boolit shooter I have and it feeds perfect .30 army is a great cartridge I would use it over .30WCF. but it might work don't know.

Back in the day, Krags were converted to many rimmed cartridges as SINGLE SHOTS. Trying to get anything but a 30-40 to feed in a 30-40 Krag would be a pain. If you want a 22/25/270/35/9.3 Krag, stick with the original case and load conservativly.

Run a .303 British into a 35 Remington die. You'll have a rimmed 35 using standard dies and reamers that works through your Krag action. You might need to fireform, you could leave the neck full-length and use a separate neck and throat reamer for the chamber. Prvi 303 British brass is available, maybe Hornady brass too.

Great reply, this is what I am looking for--- ideas to think on !
what I have going is a couple of complete Krag actions from
years ago. Have 1 in R 2 Lovell as a single shot and enjoy the
heck out of it. Now , wanting to go on to something bigger and
this time make it a repeater. Your concept of running Krag brass
into a 35 Rem die sounds very good. Has anyone done this ?
How did it work out ? Loads ? Might this be comparable to the
35 Krag that JES rebores to ?
Thanks for any information or thoughts that might be out there.
