I have two .36 Cal TC Maxi Ball molds. They are from TC and made of aluminum.
I was going to modify one for a project I have never have got too it.
A .350 round ball is 000 Buck shot. Not 0 or#1 Buck.
I got a mold. Thanks guys
I have a brand new Lee 000 Buck shot mold i might break out and give this a try. What size patch would i use and best place to get them? I know absolutely nothing about round ball, seems like it would be darn tough to paper patch a round ball? LOL, i bought a .358 sizing die, and have a few different bullets to try paper patching and sizing, i have some wad cutters patched, sized, and ready to try.
I got some of this! And yes there is a BUNCH of balls in a box! I got this box local for 24 bucks, havnt shot any yet, but plan to soon. I have never shot a round ball, i think the patches i got to try are 015, i lubed them with a home made recipe i found on the internet, 50/50 castor oil and murphys oil soap
30gr. Of Swiss or Olde E does nice out of mine with 65gr round balls. Even with that light charge it will take a squirrels head off. I estimate it's cooking along at about 1800fps with that load. It makes it hard for groundhogs to make it back to the hole too. It's actually a little bit of a hot load for squirrels but it shoots well.
Its 8 degrees here in Ohio. Wind chill is -22. Its supposed to warm up this afternoon so we can get some freezing rain. Gotta love Old Man Winter.......
Note maxi ball and buckshot is not even close. :groner:
I never said anywhere on here that a Maxi ball and Buckshot resembled eachother? Please do point that out! If you are referring to post #6 where i mentioned Paper Patching a round ball i was OBVIOUSLY joking. I am VERY familiar with Maxi Balls, and Maxi Hunters, i owned 9 TC Molds, 36, 45, 50, and 54. And None of them resembled a piece of buckshot! LOL
You obviously dont understand jack diddly dog $HIT! We were talking about buying and using buckshot as Round balls, instead of buying actual muzzleloader Round balls, (1 single piece of buckshot is ROUND in case you didn't know that?) i dont shoot round balls BUT everyone ive seen that does uses patches under them, Now if you look closely at what i said, on Lees Website it says their 000 Buckshot mold produces ROUND BALLS .360 in diameter, my rifle in question here is a 36 Caliber (that is .360 in case you didnt know?) now if i were to try and put a .360 Roundball with a .015 patch Down a .36 Bore it would be a bit tight dont ya think? But NEVER once did i refer a Thompson Center Maxi ball to a piece of Buckshot.
