I've looked thru the stickys and posts here but still have couple questions on installation. I see lyman has a gas check seater, but have been told it will not work with the lyman model 45 lubersizer. I want to install the gas check before sizing the bullets. I have a lyman model 45 lubersizer. Can you give me a little help.
I just lay a flat piece of steel on the top of my sizing die and carefully press the check in place, remove the plate and size.

harborfreight/53$ one ton arbor press. Old lee loadmaster 5 hole die plate/ holds lee and star gc seaters. Stock and custom punches. Falls down tube into can. Lever changed/hangs down vertical. I set & lever does not move much.

So that is just using the arbor press as an upside down loading press. That still does not prevent the checks from starting crooked, getting smeared down the side, or the boolit going crooked and scraping off the PC. In a perfect world, every check would snap on and go straight. NOT! I have to start every one, tap it straight with a small hammer, and then run them base 1st thru the Lee dies with my standard press. That way I get a 99% pass rate.
Anything flat -- a board, a piece of steel -- will work. Put the gas check on, and if it's tight it will be a little cockeyed. Put it base down on the flat surface and press down favoring the high side, and it will seat squarely.
I just use an arbor press. Place the bullet on the flat surface, nose up (gas check down) and apply a little pressure with the ramrod. Works really good.
