For some reason I can't get the coating to stick all the way. Has anyone else had issues with this https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...e547a7b017.jpg

Those will work great.
well the one off to the left there is a poor casting.
other than that I think you'll be just fine.
Most powder coat flaking problems are just due to cure temp/time problems. Verify your oven temp with one or two inexpensive oven thermometers. Also, watch for hot and cold spots.
Those look pretty dang good compared to some of my first attempts.
A little trick for that Longer mold.
Turn it around on the handles.
Put the sprue plate tab towards you it works like a charm and you can fill all the cavitys with ease.
Also those will shoot like a champ you will have no problem.
Best Regards
Wow thanks everyone. I was a bit worried because they didn't turn out like my very first batch did. As long as they are 95 percent covered and pass the smash test I guess I am good too go. Didn't think about switching the mold around so it would fit either.

Bare spots can indicate your bullets were not completely clean. For that powder I would suggest preheating the bullets to approximately 200F, no hotter, which will give you better coverage. A more solid high gloss color choice will also give better coverage. They should work, but I assume you are asking because you want to get better coverage.
Yeah shake and bake. I didn't use bb's this time because I didn't want to have to separate them. Guess I need to find an easier way to do that.

JOE:
Try this method, it works for me with pistol boolits.
Attachment 193513
Plastic colander with holes drilled out so BB's fall thru.
Put boolits, BB's and powder into plastic container and shake till coated.
Dump boolits, BB's and powder into colander over catch tray.
Attachment 193514
Shake over catch tray till all powder and BB's have fallen thru the holes.
This will also remove any excess powder from the boolits, no more too heavy powder coating.
Attachment 193515
Colander with just coated boolits in it.
Attachment 193517
Catch tray with BB's and excess powder.
Attachment 193512
Dump the BB's and excess powder back into shake container.
Attachment 193522
Then just dump the slugs on a pan with 1/4 hardware wire and bake.
Attachment 193528
Wait till cool and separate any boolits that are stuck together.
Size, load and shoot.
Have fun and shoot lots.

I almost got one of those colanders, but couldn't find a good one at the thrift store.
I ended up just buying a small metal pan that I think was intended to steam vegetables for a dollar.
then I drilled a few more holes in it.
Thanks lafaun. That is what I need to get.

I shake them in a peanut butter jar in my tumbler, then I got a 2 dollar flour sifter and shake the residue over a catch pan. Then I place the boolits on a wire mesh (gutter screen from Home depot) then bake 400 deg 20 mins, then quench in cold water.
I think they look damn good.
Thanks Jeff. I am not sure the photo is showing as many imperfections as I see but hopefully they will do.

I hope my first batch comes out like that!
Alfloyd, I want to say thank you. That looks like great idea. That will save me bunch of time.
