And I ate my last package of Scrapple. Yea, need to get more.
two items I keep well stock in the pantry, canned chili and corned beef hash, both have had huge increased in cost since the year of the fever.
lately been on a bacon kick w with $3/lb at sams club. cholesterol test scheduled this month, wonder what wise words will come out of the doctors mouth?
yeah and about those tests the doctors run that they seem are so important, they never test for PCB's or PFAS's, guess they dont have easy quick ways to make huge profits from that yet.
but yes, in this household corn beef is one of those staples that should be well stocked in the pantry.
I like corned beef.
The canned stuff is OK, but for the last few years, I've been making it.
I don't can it, but it keeps well in the freezer.
Local Walmart quit carrying Wolf canned chili, now I have to find an online source that isn't stupid expensive. It was my go to "I forgot to thaw something for supper" meal. Stack of crackers, grated extra sharp white cheddar, and a cold beer!
canned hash is now almost $5.00 a regular size can at most super markets here -
Hash is now almost $7.00 a can here; I will need to do with out ??
Last time I was in Aldi's they had no canned hash but the price on canned corned beef was not to bad so I bought three cans . I cut up potatoes and make a large batch Then I have it other mornings to reheat . I like to poach my eggs on top of the hash have to have bacon and toast with it .
Aldi's and Walmart seem to be the two places with best Corned Beef Hash prices right now . I did try a can from dollar tree I would NOT BUY ANYMORE! I also like the roast beef hash but the sausage hash id not good to me.
Yeah, I like the CBH. I don't keep it as much these days as the boy just won't eat it... I do keep quite a bit of SPAM hanging around. Also the occassional can of potted meat - obviously with the mandated ritz crackers.
I'm down to one can of Spam.
Couldn't find the Hormel Hot Chili with NO BEANS. Bummer. I'm out. Like MaryB said, it's a great go-to when you just don't feel like working in the kitchen some evening. A stack of Ritz and some grated cheddar makes it fine.

I got it bad for Great Value Sardines in Louisiana Hot sauce with any cheap peanut butter crackers.
Less than a Buck for a tasty high protein can of Firm Sardines.
Like the crackers too but can and do drink the Hot Sauce straight from the end of the can.
Carbs!!! lol. Think they sell corned beef hash at the dollar store…for a $1.25
Man, I love me some Sardines. Canned Oysters too. I've found you can buy a giant 18oz can of Sardines in Tomato sauce from the Hispanic Grocery Store next to my house. I've bought one that I have sitting in my cabinet for one of those days I think I can finish it... As you can guess it's taking me a while to build up to it...
Just took stock and there's 8 cans available. :)
Always a few cans of Mary Kitchen corned beef hash, spam and deviled ham in the cup board. Also some canned roast beef, chicken and tuna. The roast beef and chicken over noodles make a quick meal.
I checked the Hurricane Supply Closet ...
only one can of Maple "flavored " Spam left ...
Yes Sir ... Time to buy more !
Gary
Cajuns eat anything ... and enjoy it !
Don't forget to stock up on Dindy-Moore Beef Stew....it's a regular for emergencies (forgetting to thaw anything else)
I always have Corned Beef Hash in the pantry too...cooked til it gets crispy on the bottom then fry up 2 eggs....a light dusting of Chipotle Tabasco....mmmm mmmm...me and the dog are in hog heaven.
My go to dish is picadillo on rice. In less than an hour, I've got dinner ready!
Cannot justify the cost for canned corned beef anymore and I love it. About 3-4 of years ago bought 4 cases of Spam for $1/can. I am down to 2 cans…sure wish I had bought more.
