Hi:
How hard is it to take a Ruger Mark III apart to do a tigger Jjb?
Thanks,
Terry
Its not that hard, Ive done 3 of them. go to brownells web sight they have step by step instructions you can print out.
1st time I did it, Looked alot harder than it really was.
I just ordered the bushing for mine to get rid of that *%#$ magazine disconnect.
Trigger job will be next. Keep us posted and take pictures for us!
What?.... No winnie the pooh jokes?
"Tigger job".....nevermind.....
Took my new MK III to the range today.
Will be ordering a Winnie the Pooh "tigger" set for it tomorrow.
Shoots really nice, especially with CCI stingers.
Where do I get a 20 round mag for it?
The Tandemkross bushing came in and was installed.
Finally got rid of that atrocious magazine disconnect. It took about 3/4# off the trigger and the magazine drops like a rock, no more sticking.
The rest of the trigger group stuff will be here in a few days.
Taking apart is real easy....putting it all back together was the hard part. At least getting all the parts back and having it work correctly was shall we say trying. Have some good written instructions and parts diagrams to help and you should be ok . I had to make a few attempts before everything went back together correctly and I'm not mechanically inclined in the least.

I added the VQ trigger and sear to my new MKIII 22/45 Lite reccently. I also replaced the mag disconnect with a BAM hammer bushing. Total cost was about $85.
The trigger pull is much better and the mags leap out of the gun when the button is pressed and are also easier to insert.
I had never detail stripped a Ruger MK pistol before and it took about two hours to strip, clean, and reassemble it. I stopped frequently to refer to internet videos at each step. Now that I have done it once I think that I could do it again in a half hour or so.
It was worth the time and expense for me as the improved trigger has significantly improved my accuracy.

Incredible what just the VQ sear does. It's like a new pistol.

The only issue if you don't remove the magazine "safety" is the need to slip an empty mag into place during certain points to allow the hammer to move forward when required. The other "trick" is knowing how to tip the pistol this way and that to ensure that the hammer strut ends up where it's supposed to be instead of trapped.
Between these two niggling factors legions of otherwise smart folks have been stymied and this has given the MkIII a rather nasty reputation.
There's some great You Tube videos. One in particular comes right from the Ruger group. Follow that when you need and it's not a big deal.
The thing that stuck in my craw was having to force-ably pull the mag out of the gun. It's absurd to need to do this when it's so simple to NOT have to do this. I did not find the tear down and re-assembly difficult, but then I have worked most of my career on things with many parts in them.
New Mark III Hunter installed the Sam’s bushing and replaced the plastic LCI with a stainless steel filler. The bushing made the mags drop, seemed to help the trigger and simplified assembly. The LCI filler cut down on build up in the receiver & stopped the occasional stove pipe. Plus it just it just looks better to me. Cost around 30 bucks for all of it.
This sight has some good information on take down.
(this is for the 22/45) it’s the same for all Mark 3s

Both these guys been around a long time. After a email contact I sent cash two both no problems.
These pistols shoot great but a pain to work on without internet help. They are worth the work as the trigger job alone makes a great improvement.
Finally got a picture of my Hunter with the loaded chamber indicator removed and the stainless steel filler installed.
Everything is flush on the inside and outside.

I installed the VQ hammer/sear/trigger along with Sams bushing on both of mine. Have to say that just installing the bushing made 80% of the improvement, the other $80 (hammer/sear/trigger) probably only improved it another 20% at the most.
Hi Everyone:
Thanks for al of the great information.

I did the VQ Accurizing kit in my MkIII comp. I could not have done it without Youtube....and a little patience.....
