You got something against Canadians?:bigsmyl2:
That Wright bacon has always been the best stuff you could buy in our little burg.
I buy the wrights hickory smoked bacon. Or the Krogers brand in the meat counter its real good also.
Black label if I can get it on sale, othewise Wrights has been pretty good. Prefer the applewood variety, thick.
Petit Jean Bacon made in Arkansas. By far the best bacon I've ever eaten but I'm not sure how far they distribute their product.
Might have just been a new guy at the plant who didn't do something just right.
I'd give them another chance.
Costco brand when it's store bought, local butcher when its by the half hog.
One nice thing about the meat counter bacon is you can have it sliced to the thickness you want.
We got a Small Specialty Chain market we get Meat from. And also other stuff the big chains no longer carry.
It has GREAT Apple Smoked Thick-cut Bacon. Really Delicious.
Wife HATES Thick-Cut Bacon.
I'll go in and get 4 slices from the meat counter, just a BLT for Me, Lunch.
Wrights, Williams, and Kroger brand. All 3 are great. Kroger brand almost half the cost.
Kirkland (Costco) also.
Oscar Meyer Turkey, and I ain't happy about it.
Kirkland (Costco) low salt. It thinner than I prefer but it has the best flavor of any I have tried.
Don't buy any from chain stores. Get it from a local market that does their own prosesing and smoking.
I buy the 10lb boxes. No consistency what so ever but I get them on sale for 16 bucks a box so that a buck sixty a lb compared to 4 or 5 bucks a lb so I can live with different sized pieces.
Braum’s has good bacon. I like the thick sliced. Sausage is good, too.
My Father-in-law always said Petit Jean hams were the best money could buy.
+1 on the Wright bacon. Realized years ago that it was the most consistent brand and thick sliced. About 40/60 meat/fat. We don't have local butchers around here, anymore. Closest one is about 45 minutes away. He has bacon in the meat case, but it looks to me to be what he buys in bulk from wholesalers. It also does not look as consistent as Wright's.
I will have to try Wright's again... first time I tried it the bacon was rancid...
Here in NC Smithfield bacon is pretty consistent and goes for about $4/lb. Let’s talk makin’ bacon. Lay out the whole pkg. on a baking sheets with sides on foil sprayed with cooking spray oil. Start oven @ 350° and cook to desired texture. Anywhere from limp flimsy chewy bacon to xtra crisp. Perfect bacon every time. No mess. Put the leftovers in fridge for salads or microwave the next morning.
